🌟 Empowering Stylists, Not Pressuring Them: The Birth of Callo 🌟 When we opened Sakers Salon, we quickly realised the impact of holding physical stock on our team. Products sitting on shelves don’t just take up space; they can demotivate stylists. We found ourselves in a situation where team members felt pressured to hit sales targets, with managers breathing down their necks just to recoup stock costs. But in an industry facing a shortage of skilled stylists, the last thing we wanted was to push our talent away by turning them into salespeople. That’s never been the vision for Sakers. So, we asked ourselves: How can we empower our team without unnecessary pressure? 💡 That’s when Callo was born. ✨ Callo gives salons and freelance stylists their very own virtual shop at zero cost—no more stocking products on your shelves. It’s simple: • Your client receives an email detailing the products their stylist used and how to use them. • They order directly, and the products are shipped straight to their door. 📦 • The salon still earns commission, and so does the stylist. Everyone wins! 🙌 The best part? It costs nothing for the first salons to sign up. We’re here to support the industry we love, not add stress to it. We’ve taken the pressure off, so you can focus on what you do best—creating amazing client experiences. 💇♀️💆♂️ Interested in being part of the Callo movement? Are you wondering why stylists are increasingly leaving salons to become self-employed? Finding and retaining skilled stylists for your salon can be challenging. You invest time and effort in training them, helping them build a clientele, and providing them with the necessary tools. However, one obstacle many salon owners face is getting stylists to embrace selling as part of their daily responsibilities, even with incentives like commissions and stocked shelves. The pressure to meet sales targets and constant feedback during morning meetings can become overwhelming for hairstylists who simply want to focus on their craft and provide excellent service to clients, rather than engaging in sales pitches. As a result, many stylists feel compelled to leave the traditional salon environment. It's crucial to rethink how we support and motivate our stylists without resorting to high-pressure sales tactics. By demonstrating genuine appreciation for their skills and contributions without emphasising aggressive sales strategies, we can create a more positive and fulfilling work environment for stylists. Perhaps it's time to explore alternative approaches that prioritise the well-being and professional satisfaction of our stylists. There is a way, and we will be your helping hand for both salon owners and freelancers! Creating a Google Business Profile for an Independent Contractor Barber/Stylist As an independent contractor in a shared space like a barbershop or salon, creating a Google Business Profile can be tricky due to the shared physical location. However, it's possible to establish a strong online presence for your services. Recommended Approach: Create a Service Area Business Profile: Focus on your service area: Define the specific geographic region where you provide your services. This could be a neighborhood, city, or a larger area. Use a descriptive business name: Include your name and the type of service you offer (e.g., "John Doe Master Barber"). Provide accurate contact information: Use your personal phone number and email. Leverage the barbershop's address: While you're an independent contractor, you can use the barbershop's address as your business address. However, make sure to clarify in your profile description that you're an independent contractor and not the owner of the barbershop. Optimize Your Profile: Complete your profile: Fill in all relevant sections, including business hours, services offered, and photos. Use relevant keywords: Incorporate keywords like "master barber," "hairstylist," and your specific services (e.g., "men's haircuts," "color treatments"). Encourage reviews: Ask satisfied clients to leave reviews on your Google Business Profile. Build Your Online Presence: Create a personal website or social media profiles: Showcase your skills, portfolio, and availability. Utilize online booking platforms: Consider using platforms that allow clients to book appointments directly with you. Network with other professionals: Build relationships with other barbers, stylists, and local businesses. Important Considerations: Google's guidelines: Ensure your profile complies with Google's policies for service area businesses. Privacy: Be mindful of your personal information and the barbershop's privacy when creating your profile. Consistency: Maintain consistency in your business name, contact information, and branding across all platforms. Additional Tips: Offer unique services: Highlight specialized skills or techniques to differentiate yourself from other barbers/stylists in the shop. Participate in local events: Attend industry events or community gatherings to increase visibility. Leverage online advertising: Consider using Google Ads or social media advertising to reach potential clients. By following these steps and consistently building your online reputation, you can attract new clients and grow your business as an independent contractor barber or hairstylist.

Calling all hair colourists and salon owners! ❤️💇♀️ The biggest, most comprehensive survey of colour pricing is currently underway, with thousands of stylists and owners worldwide already signed up and benefiting from unique data that is helping them improve their business. But the organiser, Vish Colour Management, is urging even more to take part before the survey closes in June. “We want this to be the biggest, non-manufacturer linked survey of colour charging ever carried out so that we can help salons and colourists ensure they are charging the best price for their talented services,” said Tom Bentley-Taylor, Managing Director of Vish Europe, Middle East and Asia. The short questionnaire has been developed by Vish to scrutinise variances in charging within similar businesses across the globe and to investigate how colour costs can skew profits. Every one of the 1,000-plus participants who have already filled in the survey has received instant (and anonymous) results on what others are charging, nationally and in their region, with the promise of a more comprehensive study using proprietary colour data from Vish once complete. “Our aim is to share insight into how pricing translates into profit for salons with everyone who participates, and to find out if new pricing strategies are increasing profitability.” To complete the colour survey and receive your free report on data-driven colour strategies use the link below: https://lnkd.in/d3tvuKQg
