World Water Day, is not a day to be celebrated. It’s here to remind us that the work is far from over. Today, over 2 billion people still don’t have access to safe water. Water for Peace 🕊️ Today, 22nd of March, we celebrate World Water Day 💧 For us this United Nations celebration is particularly important, as it is our mission to increase water security. On this day we celebrate our commitment to addressing global challenges in clean water. Walking for Water has been working with local partners in African countries to supply clean water systems for communities in need. It is in our mission to make these solutions viable, accessible, and long-lasting. We work to create a lasting effect with communities we help. In March 2024, the banks of the River Ene in Peru burst - destroying homes, crops and displacing hundreds of Indigenous Asháninka families. THIS THURSDAY we launch a HUGE match-funding campaign to help these families rebuild. Entire communities now face rebuilding their homes and livelihoods from scratch. Worse still, extreme flooding is becoming more frequent and more severe due to the climate crisis and deforestation; which means that Asháninka communities face an uncertain future. Rainforest Foundation UK empowers Indigenous communities to prevent deforestation and build sustainable livelihoods. We are aiding Asháninka families in need following this tragedy - however, the road to recovery is long and the need to fight forest loss is urgent.
