🚨 EU Regulation Impacts Airport Security Scanners 🚨 Starting 1 September 2024, new EU regulations will limit the use of C3 scanners across the EU & EEA. These scanners—designed to ease security by allowing liquids and electronics to remain in cabin bags—now face a setback with the reintroduction of the 100ml liquid limit. Airports have invested heavily in C3 scanners, which are 8 times more expensive than traditional machines. This shift is a blow to airport investment and a setback to the passenger experience. Learn more here: https://shorturl.at/sIfks At World Aviation Festival, we’ll be diving into this topic during our baggage and security sessions. It’ll be interesting to hear the discussions around these new regulations.

REGULATION: European Commission reinstates liquid rules for airports using #C3 scanners The #EC said it will “temporarily enforce restrictions on liquid screening at EU airports using Explosive Detection Systems for Cabin Baggage (#EDSCB)”. These systems, also known as C3 scanners, are installed in several #EU airports and were previously approved for use in the #EuropeanUnion. They currently allow passengers to carry liquid containers exceeding 100ml. However, effective from September 1, 2024, the maximum allowed size for individual liquid containers will revert to the standard 100ml for airports operating this type of equipment. It is not currently known how long the ruling will be in effect. Exciting times ahead for travelers! John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is gearing up to transform passenger screening with the new Terminal One, set to open in 2026 in partnership with K2 Security Screening Group. Here’s what you can look forward to: Revolutionized Security Checkpoints: The terminal will feature advanced Computed Tomography (CT) X-ray scanners that create high-quality 3-D images. This means fewer manual checks and faster movement through security lanes—all while keeping safety a top priority! Innovative Screening Technology: Thanks to K2 Security Screening, the new terminal will also utilize Advanced Imaging Technology (eAIT). This system detects both metallic and non-metallic objects under clothing, allowing multiple travelers to be screened simultaneously, boosting efficiency. Streamlined Identification: The integration of Credential Authentication Technology (CAT) will simplify the verification process. This tech validates credentials and identifies passengers needing extra screening, making the process smoother and quicker. The new Terminal One will cover 2.6 million square feet, replacing the old terminals and accommodating over 16 million passengers annually by 2030. With 14 widebody aircraft gates and spacious arrival and departure halls, it’s all part of JFK’s ambitious $19 billion transformation! Jennifer Daniel Aument, CEO of The New Terminal One, sums it up perfectly: “We are committed to delivering the highest standards of safety and unmatched convenience for passengers.” https://lnkd.in/ggqwGG6P What are your thoughts on these advancements in airport security? Have you experienced any innovative security measures at airports lately? We would love to hear your insights! #JFKAirport #TerminalOne #AirportSecurity #Innovation #TravelExperience #K2Security #dubai #Uae

Complete Guide of "Advanced Airport Technologies" Download free sample PDF : (https://lnkd.in/d8tSJn5y) The Advanced Airport Technologies Market, valued at USD 33.5 billion in 2022, is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 4% from 2023 to 2032. This growth is driven by a significant rise in global air traffic, with the air travel industry consistently seeing an increase in passenger numbers. The market for advanced airport technologies is segmented based on airport types: international airports, domestic airports, cargo airports, and military airports. In 2022, the domestic airport segment held approximately 35% of the market share and is expected to experience significant growth through 2032. This growth is driven by the increasing adoption of advanced technologies at domestic airports to improve operational efficiency, passenger experience, and overall safety. In 2022, North America dominated the global advanced airport technologies market, holding a substantial share of over 35%. This leadership is driven by the region's commitment to innovation, its robust air travel infrastructure, and significant investments in modernization. Stringent security regulations also play a key role, encouraging the adoption of advanced systems like biometrics, smart surveillance, and automated processes. With a high volume of air traffic, North American airports prioritize efficiency and enhancing passenger experience, creating an environment conducive to technological advancements.

Just in time for summer travel season, Fraport opens additional security checkpoints equipped with modern CT (computer tomography) #technology at Frankfurt Airport. This time, the new checkpoints have been installed in Departures B-West of Terminal 1, where some 35,000 passengers on 200 flights depart every day. The CT scanners allow passengers to keep their electronic devices and liquids in their hand luggage without having to present them separately. This ensures faster and more convenient checks. Since the beginning of the rollout, the CT technology has proven its worth for FRA. “On the busy travel days during the recent Easter and Whitsun school vacations, there were no significant waiting times for passengers at the security checkpoints. For the upcoming summer peak season, we are now offering our customers and guests a smoother and faster experience at these busy checkpoints while maintaining the high levels of security standards”, says Pierre Dominique Prümm, Fraport AG’s Executive Director Aviation and Infrastructure. In the long term, Fraport aims to install the new security checkpoints across all terminals at Frankfurt Airport, including in the future Terminal 3. #frankfurtairport #aviation #airports #fraport #ConnectingTheWorldWithTomorrow

Liquid on the plane Revolutionize! https://lnkd.in/gxkYbfTU Good news travelers! Airports worldwide are easing up on liquid restrictions, all thanks to fancy tech like computer tomography (CT). This means you can now bring liquids on the plane over 100ml on board. Big European hubs like Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Rome Fiumicino are leading the charge. Let's break it down a bit further, shall we? You might be wondering, "How many 100ml bottles can I actually bring?" Well, traditionally, you're allowed as many bottles as can fit into a 1-liter resealable plastic bag, which typically works out to be around 10 bottles. Since the aftermath of the 2006 terrorist attacks, there have been strict regulations governing the transportation of liquids by air, limiting passengers to containers of no more than 100 milliliters each. This meant separating your liquids into tiny bottles and hoping they'd fit into that pesky plastic baggie (which is annoying) But with the introduction of CT scanners at airports, the game has changed. Think of these scanners as your luggage's personal X-ray machine but with a twist. Just like the ones you'd find in a hospital, they create detailed 3D images of your belongings. This means security folks can spot any potential risks, like liquids, with much more accuracy. So, what exactly does this mean for your travel experience? Well, for starters, you can say goodbye to the days of worrying about whether your favorite shampoo or perfume will make it through security. With CT scanners in place, you can pack your liquids with confidence, knowing that they'll be thoroughly checked for safety. The arrival of CT scanners is shaking up airport security, bringing in a fresh era of baggage screening that's both precise and speedy. As more and more big-name airports jump on board with this cutting-edge tech, get ready for smoother, stress-free travels ahead. So go ahead, pack your liquids, and get ready to embark on your next adventure with peace of mind! Thus far only a handful of airports have implemented this cutting-edge technology, effectively eradicating or significantly reducing liquid restrictions. Check out the list of airports leading the way: https://lnkd.in/gxkYbfTU
