🎓 Continuous Learning in Action! I’m excited to share that I’ve recently completed the Older Persons Mental Health First Aid Course! 🏥 This experience has deepened my understanding of key health issues that affect older adults, equipping me with the skills to offer immediate support when it’s needed most. As we navigate the challenges in the aged care sector, it's critical to stay informed and proactive. Continuous education not only empowers us to deliver better care but also enhances our capacity to advocate for and protect the well-being of the people we support. Some of my key takeaways include: 🔹 Recognizing signs of physical and mental health challenges in older adults. 🔹 Practical steps to provide first aid in emergency situations. 🔹 The importance of a compassionate and empathetic approach in all interactions. This course has reinforced my belief that lifelong learning is essential, especially in fields that directly impact the health and well-being of others. I’m looking forward to applying these new skills in my daily work and continuing to grow as a professional. 💡 #ContinuousLearning #OlderPersonsHealth #FirstAid #AgedCare #ProfessionalDevelopment #Healthcare #NeverStopLearning Mental Health First Aid International

Many people are trained in standard physical First Aid and CPR. What most people probably don't realize until they take a Mental Health First Aid class is that you will most likely use MHFA much more often than standard First Aid and CPR. Many people never encounter situations in which they need to use standard First Aid or CPR, but it is important to have those skills if a situation where they are needed is encountered because they are literally life saving. It is just as important to have MHFA skills and more likely that they will be used more frequently, and MHFA can be life saving too. Next online Adult MHFA classes scheduled 3/26 and 4/25, 10am Eastern Time at 3riversmhfa.com https://lnkd.in/eQuDCDpc

Done, Completed, Updated and Recommended!!! Keeping our staff safe while working in our office is another element that always needs your attention. There are 2 areas that should be considered, Mental Health First Aid and First Aid at Work. This week Amanda spent the last 3 days with St John's ambulance in Farnborough, so that she could refresh the knowledge that she had gained as a First Aider previously. When you take this training you are covered for 3 years and need to keep your knowledge updated. Our thanks go to St John's Ambulance in Farnborough for the great course they delivered. So much information to take in and be aware of, great to receive training from another company too, as it can really open your eyes to any gaps in your knowledge. Amanda learnt so much and met some great people along the way. Whether the training is for you or your company, it really is worth while doing as you never know when someone you care about may need your help. Also have you checked the Defib site which will tell you where the nearest one is. If your company has one but is not showing on this site, please register and let them know. Also, they are always looking at ways to improve and make sure that the First Aid you receive is the best it can be, so make sure you follow the latest guidelines and keep refreshing your knowledge. #firstAidAtWork #StJohnsAmbulance #FirstAid #Training

As someone who has struggled with mental health, “emotional first aid” is such a great concept. When, not if, you run into people who draw emotional first blood from you, it’s great help to be able to recognize it and apply first aid to your emotional wounds. We should all talk about this topic more. Guy Winch: Why we all need to practice emotional first aid https://lnkd.in/gCKHPYtG
