Rikki L’s Post

Many people have been discussing Young Thug's trials as a court case study foundational to creative freedom law in the U.S. I blame not having universal healthcare, the criminalization of drugs, and racism for martyring him. From my limited understanding, I think he is as innocent as Mike Diana's "Boiled Angel". Regarding Young Thug's plea in October, I worry about biased misjudgments defining what "pro gang-related" art is or not. Obligating him to deliver four annual "anti-gang" presentations/concerts in Atlanta could too easily become punitive against any perceived BIPOC empowerment movements. (1969 incident where Chicago Police raided a Black Panther Party community breakfast program. Fred Hampton and Mark Clark, another Black Panther leader, were killed in the raid. Four other Panthers were seriously injured. An investigation revealed that police had fired nearly 100 shots, while the Panthers had fired one.) Punishments could be more harmful than helping him recover his health from random searches and testing he may be framed, entrapped, or otherwise set up to whether or not he may be challenged by addiction or self-medicating. I pity him and everybody suffering as a result of persecution against him. The real concern should be asking why are people in government focusing on him instead of taking on healthcare accessibility and drug decriminalization as more vital crime prevention resolutions. Comparisons of guilty pharmaceutical companies (aka gangs) that were not ordered jail time: Purdue Pharma Guilty of opioid crisis wrongdoing, paid a substantial settlement and filed bankruptcy, with no executive jail time. Johnson & Johnson Guilty of opioid-related lawsuits, settled for a significant amount without admitting guilt, and no executives were jailed. Pfizer Faced opioid-related lawsuits, settled for a considerable amount without admitting guilt, and no executives were ordered jail time.
