That $150k would've equated to 10% stake of Airbnb (now worth roughly $25 billion). Rejections are inevitable, but don't let them discourage you. Now you'll get to hear about 911 infrastructure all the time instead 😊 On that note, the quality of our 911 infrastructure is important to everyone in the US, but we may not think about it much (at least I didn't until interviews with my amazing new colleagues). 90% of 911 calls come in from cellphones, but 911 infrastructure was built around landline technology in the 70s and hasn't changed since. Call takers rely on audio-only communication with limited location data, manual note-taking, and spotty human translation services for non-English callers. It's scary to think that none of the technology that we take for granted in our day-to-day communications is actually useful to us when we need it the most.
