Are we losing our ability to make eye contact?? He makes a great point. While eye contact has been a source of anxiety for everybody at some point, losing this ability completely could be a real problem. Eye contact and other non-verbal communication impacts: * How you connect with others * Public speaking and presentations * Your confidence and authority * Building rapport and relationships The effects of COVID and modern digitization have impacted these skills in a huge way. We've seen how improving them is a competitive advantage for people, resulting in promotions, better team culture, and increased collaboration. #future #denver #milehighcity #tech #ai #humanresources *credit to John Mayer

As relatively new citizens in the virtual world our opportunity lays in our ability to learn a new way to build trust, creatively collaborate and feel connected. Despite the common fear that AI will replace humans, the real opportunity lies in something far more meaningful: our ability to build genuine human connection, trust, and culture in the digital age. As new citizens of this online world, we have to adapt and strengthen the ways we communicate, bringing intentionality back to our words and actions. Unfortunately, many have grown lazy with their communication—both verbally and non-verbally. This decline is why so many teams struggle to collaborate, why service providers often miss the mark with clients, and why connections feel shallow. We’ve lost touch with essential communication basics that foster understanding and respect. Remember the fundamentals: make eye contact (even virtually), show genuine curiosity, and consider how you want your message to be received. Understand that others don’t necessarily think as you do; communication is about bridging differences, not just broadcasting thoughts. Make the person you’re communicating with feel understood and included. Craft your messages with care, acknowledging that true connection requires empathy and effort. In a world that’s increasingly automated, it’s our uniquely human ability to connect authentically that will set us apart and drive meaningful success.

Our superpower-- communication and collaboration Over tens of thousands of years (fast!) we leapt to the top of the food chain through our ability to #communicate and #collaborate at scale-- with people we know, with people we do not yet know. #Technology has just extended this potential across geographies, cultures, and even languages. As #ai consumes some tasks and #augments our potential in other areas, it will come back to our ability to communicate and collaborate (again, at scale) that will define the future of our work . The future of work is human #futureofwork #collaboration #communication #human What challenges do you see today in our ability to communicate and collaborate effectively? ✨ Let’s Talk: Communication Tips for 2024 ✨ In this fast-paced digital world, how we communicate can make or break our professional relationships. Here’s what I’ve learned about keeping our conversations meaningful: 🔑 Empathy First: The past few years have shown us the power of empathy. It’s about really listening and understanding each other. Let’s make our conversations more heartfelt and genuine. 🌟 Personal Touch Matters: Forget the generic messages. People appreciate when we take the time to personalize our communication. Let’s make each interaction special and tailored to the person we’re speaking with. 🌍 Cultural Awareness: Our teams are more diverse than ever. Embracing different cultures and perspectives enriches our communication. Let’s celebrate this diversity in every conversation. 🧠 AI is Our Friend: AI can help us connect better, whether it’s through smart chatbots or personalized content. But remember, the human touch is irreplaceable. Let’s use technology to enhance, not replace, our human interactions. 💡 Be Real and Honest: In a world full of noise, being authentic stands out. What is Conversational Intelligence, and why is it underrated? When we talk about intelligence at work, we usually focus on IQ or emotional intelligence. But there’s another form of intelligence that is just as crucial, especially for managers: Conversational Intelligence. 🧠💬 Whether you’re leading a team, working across functions, or managing relationships with different stakeholders, how you handle conversations can make or break your success. Yet, this skill is often underrated—and underdeveloped. Here’s why Conversational Intelligence should be on your radar, especially if you work with cross-functional teams: ⬆ It builds trust: Conversations are the foundation of relationships. High-quality conversations lead to higher levels of trust, which is essential for team collaboration. 🤝 ⬇ It reduces misunderstandings: Poor communication leads to misalignment and mistakes. Strong conversational skills ensure clarity and help teams stay on the same page. 🧩 ↕ It fosters innovation: The best ideas come from open, exploratory conversations. When managers use conversational intelligence, they create an environment where creativity thrives. 💡 🔄 It improves decision-making: Great conversations lead to better decisions. When everyone feels heard, the group is more likely to arrive at well-rounded solutions. 🧠 🔃 It resolves conflict: Healthy conversations are the key to resolving disagreements and ensuring everyone feels understood and respected. 🛠️ As Judith E. Glaser, author of Conversational Intelligence, said: “To get to the next level of greatness depends on the quality of our culture, which depends on the quality of our relationships, which depends on the quality of our conversations.” Watch this space daily for more nuances on conversational intelligence!
