"I think the IPO market is open. The problem is no one wants to go public right now in advance of an election in the US." In Ep 69 of Micro Podcast, I continued a conversation with Jason Corsello, Founder and General Partner at Acadian Ventures. While the investment market may be better than it was, it's not great. So what is the biggest issue? From Jason's perspective, the problem is liquidity. Investors haven't been getting their money back from exits of these businesses. The IPO market has been somewhat frozen. And no one is making any big moves before the election in the US. The good news is that once we get past this milestone things look favorable for 2025. Jason is predicting that regardless of which administration wins office, there will be changes at the FTC that will create a more favorable environment for M&A. What indicators are you paying attention to in the market? What do you think the environment for M&A and IPOs will look like in 2025? Would love to get your take Steve Bret Brad Lance George Thomas Jack Jeff Chris Joe Abhay Chris David Rob Andreas Tony Ben

Your company isn't too small to IPO. I’m always surprised by the number of entrepreneurs that I talk to, who have no idea that an IPO is a viable exit strategy for them. Most entrepreneurs believe the Wall Street myth that an IPO is reserved for unicorns or companies with billion-dollar valuations. 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩. That’s what my book, The Entrepreneur’s IPO is all about. Dan McClory, from Boustead Securities, has an amazing way of putting it. He calls it, ‘The Art of the Possible’. Dan shares his wisdom in chapter one of my book, and I’m so grateful for his input. Why are fewer and fewer entrepreneurs choosing to go public? Our managing partner, Brad Bernstein, sits down with Bloomberg Markets' Sonali Basak to dive into the IPO market and how it's failing to meet the needs of today’s high-growth businesses. Brad says it's not whether companies can get public, but whether they can thrive once they are public, and he points out the importance of the public and private markets working in harmony to create a healthy economy. Watch the conversation below and read Brad's op-ed on the topic: 🎥 https://lnkd.in/ey4tkDUA 📰 https://lnkd.in/e4UwPVRs #IPOmarket #growthequity cc: Bloomberg News

The Big Day has arrived! The listing day is a momentous day and in some ways like a birthday and grand unveiling day for many companies. It’s the day the company is initiated into the public markets and begins trading as a public entity. It’s a huge moment for any company and the culmination of years of hard work. Newly listed IPO companies face challenges like market volatility, investor skepticism, reporting, and intense competition for capital in the current market. It’s a huge responsibility, which is why I always recommend that companies begin planning early and ‘acting’ as public entities, well before going public. I discuss all the realities of the ‘big day’ in chapter 11 of my book and welcome the expert knowledge of Paul Dorfman, the head of listings at the NYSE. There’s nothing quite like the experience of IPO day and hope all entrepreneurs get to experience it in their lifetime!

Here's the cover and blurb of my new book. Standby, pre-launch will be in two weeks. Please forward this on to anyone who might be interested. In IPO vs. VC author Paul Hickey takes readers on a thought-provoking journey to challenge the conventional wisdom of waiting for billion-dollar unicorn status before going public. Drawing on decades of experience and insider insights, Hickey unveils how small-cap IPOs offer unparalleled advantages for founders, VCs, and shareholders —accelerating growth, boosting liquidity, and opening doors to capital and global opportunities. This book demystifies the small-cap IPO process while providing actionable strategies to leverage the $4 trillion small-cap market, making a compelling case for rethinking the path to going public.

There are many myths of Wall Street. The one I often refer to is the myth that you have to be a Unicorn to IPO. The myth of needing to be a unicorn, while inspiring, doesn't necessarily align with the reality of most businesses. For many entrepreneurs, success is better defined by sustainable growth, meaningful impact, and the ability to adapt and thrive over time. There are zebras and camels also entering the market! Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying an IPO is for everyone. But… The capital markets are more accessible than you might think, and you don’t need to have billion-dollar valuations to get there. An IPO offers entrepreneurs access to transformational capital and liquidity. Are you interested to know more? Let’s talk!

Imagine being able to invest in a fast-growing company before it goes public… …when the biggest gains are still on the table. Why should you consider investing before a company goes public? Here’s why: Once a company goes public, the stock price often skyrockets due to demand. That means, as a pre-IPO investor, you can secure your stake at a significantly lower price and potentially watch it multiply when it hits the NASDAQ. My company, ARM5™ Formula Co., is on track to list in just a few months, and by investing now… …you’re positioning yourself for major gains before the rest of the market gets in. Plus, as a silent investor, you don’t need to worry about day-to-day management or decision-making. You’ll learn more about it when you register for: Seize The Opportunity To Invest In ARM5™ Formula Co. Before It Goes Public On The NASDAQ And Unlock Huge Potential Returns My company is valued at $20M, and I’m selling 10% ($2M) before my company goes public. (It could be one solid investor who wants to invest the full $2M or a group of investors.) I’ll be joined by Chris Galvin, who has gotten 70+ companies listed on the stock exchanges. Don’t miss this opportunity to get in early and potentially enjoy massive returns.
