📚 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟑-𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲: 𝐀 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫: 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐦 & 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 🌿 The most relaxing and calm days of the whole college life (Sukoon ke din). You make new friends who will stay connected with you forever, engage in leg pulling in groups, sit together in the college grounds for lunch, and face no hustle for internships or placements. You just go to college, meet new people, enjoy your society work, and plan visits to new places if you are an outstation student. All we are doing is just observing and settling ourselves into the new environment. 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 🔄 Hustling for some position in society, getting a good internship, fighting with teachers for internals, and the BIG question: What do I want to do in my career??? We start questioning whether we should attend class or not, whether we should participate in this or not, and many more such things. Every decision feels crucial, and the carefree days start fading. 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫: 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐭, 𝐍𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🎓 Only at this stage do we realize that CGPA matters more than internships, case competitions, society roles, and other achievements. Competition is at its peak for placements, and we start exploring alternative options in case we're not placed. We hesitate in approaching new friends, even if they are from our batch (the opposite of how we were in the 1st year). Things I wish I had known during my second year of college . . . As soon as you enter your second year of college: 🌻Start focusing on academics along with extra co-curricular activities. 🌻Participate in various competitions held within or outside your college premise. 🌻Seek out different internships and skill-building courses to help you develop your resume in the future. 🌻Select subjects which will enhance your knowledge rather than just being taken for the sake of it. 🌻There are many cases where few people start preparing for some competitive exam concurrently (for the same, I'll go into more detail in another post), so if you'd like, you may also start getting ready or figuring it out. 🌻In your final month of 4th semester, I would like you to start preparing for the placement process which will start with the end of your 2nd year. ( For the same, I'll go into more detail in another post) In my case I followed a few of them as I wasn't much aware, but I don't want you to miss out on anything. Second year exams have come to an end, and I have officially entered the last year of such an important part of my life, and it does feel like I took my first class yesterday! So, these are some things that I learnt throughout the 2 years of my college life: - Attendance is important: Firstly, No matter what college you are in; whether it be Delhi university or somewhere else, attendance is very important and student’s liniency towards college attendance has a reverse effect on so many things, (like internals obviously😭) -Balance: Three factors: Academics, Societies and Internships. Balance between these three is certainly very important, one thing shouldn’t be prioritised over the other. -Having Fun: College life will never come back and these days surely wouldn’t last long, so having fun should be also prioritised at times (only at times). All I know is, no one can be perfect at everything, do what you love to, focus on what you want to do and have a little fun doing so!
