"I joined Motion to work with James." I love to hear this from new hires. /Proud recruiter vibes 💙✨ Reminder for you: People don't just choose a company. They choose leaders they want to work with. Like James Mulvey, our head of Content at Motion (Creative Analytics) See, James isn't just a manager. He's a mentor, a collaborator, and a true creative at heart. He understands that managing creatives isn't about control or micromanagement. It's about empowerment, trust, and a willingness to take risks. He knows that sometimes, the best thing he can do as a leader is to: 1. Set a clear vision and then get out of the way 2. Provide constructive feedback, but also know when to let things slide 3. Celebrate successes and learn from failures together as a team And because of that leadership style? James has built a team of creatives who are: - Engaged and motivated to do their best work - Constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible Because they know that he's got their back. To all the managers out there: Never underestimate the power of empathy and understanding. It's what builds trust and loyalty in your team.

𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑳𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑳𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑴𝒚 𝑲𝒊𝒅𝒔 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅🎢 During our family trip to Warner Bros. Movie World in Gold Coast, my kids decided on their *must-try* ride—the Batman Spaceshot. If you’ve been on it, you know it’s not for the faint-hearted. It shoots you up at lightning speed and drops you so fast you feel like you’re floating mid-air for 1-2 seconds. My heart definitely dropped too! I won’t lie—it was scary, especially for me. But I realized something important: as a parent (and as a leader), sometimes we need to 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝. ✅ I listened to their choice and respected their voice. ✅ We discussed the options and made decisions together—and yes, we agreed to skip the extreme roller coaster (phew!). ✅ By joining them in their scary adventure, I showed that trust goes both ways. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧? 1️⃣ Listening Builds Trust: At home or at work, when you let your team (or kids) lead, you empower them to share ideas and take ownership. Their voices matter. 2️⃣ Collaborative Decision-Making: As a leader, facilitating open discussions helps everyone feel involved, reducing resistance to decisions. 3️⃣ Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone: Sometimes, joining your team in “scary” or unfamiliar situations builds stronger connections and confidence—on both sides. Parenting and leadership aren’t so different. It’s about listening, empowering, and growing together! 💡 How do you empower your team to lead?*Share your thoughts below! #LeadershipLessons #TeamEmpowerment #ParentingAndLeadership #TrustAndGrowth #WorkAndFamily #GrowthMindset

🌟 From Playmaker on the Field to Playmaker in Business 🌟 In sports, a playmaker is defined by their ability to influence the game, orchestrate plays, and create opportunities for success. But what if I told you that these skills aren't confined to the field or court? They seamlessly translate into the realm of business, where former elite athletes often thrive as playmakers in their professional careers. Elevating standards and organizations. As in sports, being a business playmaker means possessing vision, resilience, and an ability to make an impact in multiple ways. It's recognizing opportunities, inspiring teammates/colleagues, and executing with precision. A 🏀 point guard renowned for court vision and an ability to set up scoring opportunities becomes a natural leader in the boardroom, orchestrating projects, empowering teammates, and navigating challenges with finesse. In 🏈 , the quarterback's ability to read defenses, make split-second decisions, and lead teams to wins translates in the business world as a strategic thinker, adept at analyzing markets, anticipating industry trends, and guiding organizations to success. Just as we admire playmakers on the field for their ability to elevate team performance, it's time to recognize and celebrate former elite athletes who bring that excellence, leadership, and drive to excel into the world of business. ⭐ If you're a former athlete turned playmaker in business, I'd love to connect and share stories. Keep inspiring each other to reach new heights. #Playmaker #BusinessLeadership #AthleteToBusiness #PlymkrzCollective🏆

Just got promoted from rockstar individual contributor to leader? Congratulations! But let's be honest, the transition can feel like going from a Beyoncé concert (thoughts on her new album, I haven’t heard it yet) to wrangling toddlers at a bounce house. The move from individual contributor to people manager is a whirlwind. You might feel overwhelmed, bombarded by "what ifs," lacking confidence and experiencing a healthy dose of imposter syndrome. The "Am I actually qualified for this?" anxiety is a real thing, folks. Moving from individual contributor to administration comes with a whole new set of challenges. What’s the good news? It's also an incredible opportunity to learn, grow, and build a thriving team! At EddieSpeaksLove, we help new leaders navigate this exciting (and sometimes overwhelming) transition. Here's a sneak peek at 5 of our favorite tips to help you thrive in your new role: Shift Your Focus: Let go of the "doer" mentality and embrace the power of delegation. (Your team is there for a reason!). Trust and empower them, and they will trust and empower you to envision greater solutions. Communication is Key: Open and honest communication builds trust and keeps everyone on the same page. Embrace Feedback: Feedback isn't a personal attack, it's a growth opportunity! (Learn from it and become an even better leader.). Ask for feedback as much as you provide feedback to your team members. Invest in Your Team: Empower your team members and watch them shine! (Remember, a rising tide lifts all boats.). Help them identify roles and projects that broaden or deepen their skills, advance their careers, and gain visibility to become promoted. Be Kind to Yourself: There will be bumps along the road. Learn from mistakes, celebrate wins, and keep moving forward! On a daily or weekly basis, write down your wins and learnings. At EDDIESPEAKSLOVE, LLC, we say, “Every. Damn. Day. Get better in each moment.’ Ready to ditch the overwhelm and become the leader desire to be? 📝 Can I tell you about an awesome meeting I had recently? As any team grows, structure changes usually mean less time for a leader to connect with each individual. 🗓️ It's important to me that no matter how big or small the team is, every person knows that I care about the work they do and the impact their area has on the overall YouVersion mission. Every part of the Support team is working on multiple initiatives each day, and there is no shortage of things to keep up with! 🙃 So in addition to 1-1s with my leaders I have meetings with each area of the team regularly to dive deeper, hear updates, and there's usually some laughter in there too. Recently, I had a 2-1 with the Volunteer Operations Team. Most of the time we all come with a list of things to talk through on our computers/notebooks/etc., but this time I walked in the room to this white board. They had listed the 3 things they wanted to talk about (and I got to add a bonus topic.) As we worked through the meeting, we did every ESFJ's favorite activity and checked the box for each topic when it was finished.✅ 3 reasons why I loved this time so much: 📌 The list was short, sweet, and specific. We were able to stay focused and accomplish everything we came together for. ✨ It let the team shine. They brought thoughts, ideas, and questions and I simply got to support and problem solve with them. 💪🏻 It was a great reminder of how far this team has come. They didn't exist at the beginning of this year, and are carrying the work of an open role, but they've worked hard to assess the area they own, identify gaps, build relationships, and mprove things for all the teams they support. ❓Have you ever walked out of a meeting that felt great? What made it special for you? #operations #volunteers #technology #ministry #leadership #teamwork

A great read about what creativity means in communications - leadership lesson with Graeme Anthony, Executive Creative Director at Axicom Key takeaways for me- ' Be curious', 'Never stop learning', 'we are all creative', allowing ' creative freedom', and looking ahead 'the real battleground is disinformation'. #creativecommunications
“The job of those creative roles is to allow the people who need to be the most creative the freedom, time, and capacity to think freely. But that doesn’t mean they should be the sole creative output.” Hanson Search’s own Helena Ranger recently caught up with Graeme Anthony, Executive Creative Director at Axicom about leadership, 2025 trends, and why we need to re-democratise creativity. Covid required companies to affect huge change in a short space of time, which was generally well supported by staff. Why do we see friction and upset when we try to do other big changes like Mergers, Acquisitions or ... dare I mention it ... Return To Office? My friends JT and Gautham discuss this in our latest podcast.
Leadership is all about effective communication. Recently, there have been various discussions around RTO, M&A, and layoffs where this critical function has fallen short. Join Gautham Pallapa, Ph. D., Bryan Ross, and myself as we delve into successful strategies and pitfalls we've encountered in our careers. Check out our latest conversation on leadership and share your own experiences! Building a new department in a creative agency comes with many challenges. It's often a significant investment in leadership and infrastructure. While everyone desires instant ROI, diversifying your agency often requires time, money, and trust in your team. Over the past decade, I've helped scale thriving Print, Digital, and AV departments. I've assisted agencies in expanding into brand, gaming, and other verticals they were not previously known for. There is an art to doing this successfully, and it begins with hiring the right people. What challenges have you faced in scaling your team? #Leadership #AgencyGrowth #TeamBuilding
