Capital is much more than (only) the money. We're proud of and excited about our $10M raise, but whether it is $1, $10M, $100M, or more, what matters is what you do with it and what support beyond the money that you get with it. We couldn't ask for a better combination of "smart money" from Battery Ventures, Tower Research Capital, Blu Ventures, K Street Capital, and the rest of our investors who have already brought us to where we are and are actively helping us accelerate and expand on what PSci has already done in the last year. So, what are we doing with it in the next year? A few things to look forward to: 1. Releasing Awarded AI, the natural evolution of our current PSciBIS product that brings the next wave of Generative AI to Government Contracting & BD. As adoption & technology evolves very quickly in GenAI, we're moving faster to bring power users AI functionality well beyond the chatbot and deliver AI to users of any experience level. New features, not just making our existing ones easier, faster, and more robust. 2. Ambient AI. At some point, people stopped calling the automobile the "horseless carriage", and some parts of the population have already dropped the word "electric" from "electric cars", too. In technology circles, AI became table stakes some time ago, and this will happen across the economy, and the release of Awarded AI serves our customers today with both discrete AI tools they're used to and seamlessly integrates and imbues compliant, auditable, explainable AI into all they do, and even manages to put smiles on the faces of their CISO, CTO, CFO, and CEO at the same time (quite the feat, I know, but if you want to see it, schedule a demo and bring your C-suite, Matt Pinkston and Christian Ferreira and the team will see to it). 3. Whether you're managing big data, processing customer transactions, or automating workflows, the ability to optimize performance can be the difference between thriving and falling behind. Here's how I recently tackled an algorithmic challenge that parallels real-world business problems and how modern tech and best practices can improve efficiency. 🔍 The Challenge: Imagine you're handling millions of customer requests, each with weight limits, shipping constraints, or capacity planning, and your task is to group these items optimally. Initially, my approach used basic logic and common sorting algorithms. It worked fine for small data sets, but as the volume increased, the solution became inefficient, resulting in time limit exceeded (TLE) errors. This is a common scenario in businesses relying on outdated systems—they work well on a small scale but break down when confronted with exponential growth in data or customer demand. 💡 The Solution: Just like upgrading business processes to handle larger volumes, my breakthrough came when I focused on optimizing the core of the algorithm—by upgrading the input handling process. I replaced Scanner (slow for large inputs) with BufferedReader, a faster, more modern method to handle I/O operations. 🔧 Key Lessons and Modern Solutions: Leverage Latest Tech: Sometimes the difference between failure and success is in using modern tools. Just like AI-driven insights or cloud-native infrastructure can revolutionize business operations, upgrading even small pieces of code—like switching to BufferedReader—can have massive impact. Optimize for Scale: Businesses today handle big data, from millions of customer transactions to real-time analytics. In both coding and operations, you need to build systems that scale. My code went from TLE to optimal by refining the input process—similar to how businesses need data pipelines that grow with their customer base. Smarter Data Handling: Using the two-pointer approach allowed me to pair items (or data points) efficiently, just like how businesses can better allocate resources and maximize throughput with the right tools. Whether it’s in logistics, inventory management, or service delivery, smarter pairing and sorting mechanisms are critical. Performance Tweaks with Big Results: As with AI-powered optimizations in cloud computing or machine learning algorithms, sometimes you don’t need a major overhaul—just a few tweaks to your process. The lesson: small adjustments, like optimizing input handling or improving the backend of your system, can result in significant performance gains.
