A study by the University of Sheffield has shown that the application of agrosolar can lead to better crop yields and increased solar energy production, with less water consumption than traditional farming in open fields. https://lnkd.in/d4byGNaX

The virtual kick-off meeting of the #HorizonEU TWINNING Project isUP-AgrO - Unlocking the Potential for Agricultural Research on an EU Outmost Region: boosting ISOPlexis centre (https://lnkd.in/djvb5FSb), was held on July 05th of 2024, hosted by the coordinator, Drª Carla Ragonezi, from the Universidade da Madeira, Portugal. The isUP-AgrO proposal aims to enhance the capability of the Research Centre ISOPlexis, located in Madeira, an outermost region of Portugal, to be a leading research center at the EU level in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Technology. The proposal joins two research centres from Spain (IRNAS - CSIC), Italy (UNIPR), and a Portuguese innovation company (Saturntech) with the common goal of improving the research and coordination activities of the ISOPlexis - Centre of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Technology. #isoplexis #universityofmadeira #UMa #CSIC #INRAS #UNIPR #Saturntech #HorizonEu #widera #NCPs #EUfunded #research #Widening #Twinning #Training

📢 Cauldron Ferm’s $4.3M Industry Growth Program grant signals Federal Government support for the commercialisation of Australia’s precision fermentation industry. CAA is encouraged to see the Australian government recognising the value of and need for public funding to support emerging technologies like precision fermentation to contribute to the creation of a more diversified and resilient food system and economy. According to Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry & Science - “Making more things here, strengthening supply chains and keeping our know-how and talent onshore where it belongs – that’s what a Future Made in Australia is all about." The Industry Growth Program aims to support SMEs undertaking commercialisation projects that will build Australian capabilities in priority areas for the National Reconstruction Fund. Cauldron Ferm received funding through the ‘commercialisation and growth stream,’ which provides matched grant funding to help transition ideas from prototyping through to market readiness stages. Cauldron Ferm Co-founder and CEO Michele Stansfield stated “this funding will support the expansion of our commercial demo facility in Orange, enabling us to prove our hyper-fermentation platform at an industrially relevant scale and in the process commercialise the technology of both Cauldron and its customers.” We hope that this grant is a step-off point for further public investment in cellular agriculture, enabled through key government policy mechanisms such as the National Reconstruction Fund. ➡ This will not only be essential to support the commercialisation of the technology, but will enable Australia to capitalise on its unique opportunity to be a global leader in the production of novel foods and ingredients. #cellularagriculture #cellag #precisionfermentation
We are honored to announce that Cauldron Ferm has been awarded $4.3M by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources Industry Growth Program (IGP). The IGP program aims to "propel SMEs into a solid growth trajectory, with this important avenue to grow our manufacturing capabilities using the cutting edge ideas of younger firms," according to Hon. Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry and Science IGP grants are aligned with the seven priority areas of the $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund Corporation: Resources; Transport; Medical Science; Defence Capability; Renewables and Low Emission Technologies; Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and; Enabling Capabilities. Ricardo Teixeira and Tiago Domingos, researchers at Maretec, just published new research on the use of remotely sensed data and machine learning to identify permanent pastures in Portugal. The work involves also Tiago Morais, alumnus of Maretec, and was done in collaboration with Instituto de Financiamento da Agricultura e Pescas (IFAP), the Portuguese agricultural funding institute. This paper reports on the development of an algorithm that will be used in the future by IFAP for automated control of farmer commitments, namely regarding the confirmation of declared existance of pastures in farms, greatly simplifying the process of doing in situ or remote manual verifications. #MARETEC #LARSyS #TécnicoLisboa #ULisboa

Yesterday I had the opportunity to host a film crew preparing the series "Lesson on European Funds IX", commissioned by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy. The educational materials created as part of the project will be broadcast in secondary schools in Eastern Poland. Educating younger generations has always been important to us, which is why every year we organize lessons about indoor farming for horticulture students.
