How can we as medical professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa collaborate to enhance healthcare delivery and education?

THE 1,000 medical practitioners who sued Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) challenging the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) resolution to impose a K300 monthly building levy on each member now want the court to halt implementation of the move. Zacks Ndumba and 999 other petitioners want the Lusaka High Court to grant them an interim order stopping ZMA from implementing the August 2024 resolutions aimed at deducting K300 from association members. Dr Ndumba and others want Judge Conceptor Zulu to order that the resolutions should not be implemented until the lawsuit against ZMA is determined. In an event that the planned interim injunction is granted but not adhered to, the plaintiffs want those found wanting to be jailed for contempt of court, according to an interim order of injunction filed by Dr Ndumba. The medical practitioners have sued ZMA in the High Court, challenging the resolutions made at its AGM to impose a K300 building levy per month on each member.

📢 New Research on CPD’s Impact on Real-World Clinical Practice! Online, voluntary CPD plays a key role in healthcare, but understanding how it translates to real-world practice can be challenging. In their latest study published in the Journal of CME, Katie S L. and Don Moore examine the relationship between knowledge/competency, self-efficacy, and clinical practice using secondary analysis of medical and pharmacy claims data from online CPD programs. Key findings: ⭐ Both knowledge/competency and self-efficacy scores correlate with real-world practice. ⭐Self-efficacy shows a stronger association, making it a valuable measure for predicting clinical application. These insights highlight self-efficacy as a practical predictor of impact, with knowledge assessments still vital for targeting effective CPD topics. The ESICM Guidelines on ARDS have been accessed 178000 times and have now more than 200 citations. Thanks to the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine for giving me the great opportunity to lead the project, together with #LuigiCamporota and #CarolynCalfee. I am convinced that these Guidelines will contribute to improve intensivists’ knowledge on ARDS and ultimately the quality of patient care. #ESICM
