Diversion 🤝 Problem Solving Diversion is an intervention that is currently expanded systemwide. These specialists work closely with newly unhoused individuals and families to immediately access safe alternative housing options. This could mean staying with friends or family. In other cases, this could mean a negotiated return to their prior housing situation. Ultimately, the goal is to free up shelter beds and help individuals and families avoid the trauma of prolonged stays in homelessness. #Endhomelessness #Diversion #AllNeighborsCoalition #HousingForward

Rural homelessness has increased by 40% in the last five years and affordable housing makes up only 9% of housing in villages. Our main purpose is to provide homes for affordable rent for those people with a housing need. The range of homes we provide, from rented to shared ownership, sheltered accommodation and care homes means we help many local people. #RuralHousingWeek #PlanForHousing #SocialHousing

Another data point that the current private-public partnership model might not be the best way to build enough housing to solve our homeless crisis (or corresponding affordable housing crisis). If we can launch a skyscraper and catch it essentially with a pair of tongs, surely as a society we have enough creativity, brilliance and resources to house (and service and feed) everyone who needs a home. #california #homelessness #affordablehousing

Here are three reasons why I'm pleased that Tameside Council have introduced AdviceAid, the online housing advice tool: 1. AdviceAid is a cost-effective way for local authorities to fulfil their housing advice duty. 2. AdviceAid allows people to quickly find the facts they need to prevent themselves from becoming homeless. 3. AdviceAid offers hundreds carefully curated pieces of information that are always kept up-to-date (which are written Neil Morland & Co Housing Consultants).
“It is an excellent service and should be the first port of call for anyone facing homelessness or needing assistance with housing matters. The quality advice it provides will help us to prevent homelessness at a time when we are seeing an unprecedented level of demand." Cllr Andrew McLaren, Tameside Council’s deputy leader. We are delighted to be working with Tameside Council to provide tailored housing advice to their residents. Local authorities face major challenges in addressing homelessness and raising consumer standards, especially in boosting affordable housing supply. Demand often exceeds supply, and economic factors like inflation and interest rate changes add to the financial strain on new housing projects. Altin Smajli, Head of Housing Strategy, Health and Allocations for Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea explores how to meet consumer standards by addressing the diverse needs of their residents, including accessibility, safety, and supportive services essential for long-term stability. He discusses how balancing these demands while managing limited resources is a continuous struggle when eradicating homelessness. #SocialHousingSF #Homelessness #HousingCrisis
