Are you connecting with your new hires? When delivering an onboarding experience, are you as a trainer doing all you can to make sure they feel comfortable? Do they feel welcomed? Building a rapport with new hires is one of the best techniques to foster a positive learning environment. Keep in mind, this is potentially a make or break moment for them and the company they are coming to work for. If a new hire doesn't get that connection and feeling of comfortability, they miss an absolutely important step in the onboarding process. Chat with them. Talk about hobbies, interests, etc. Let them know they are important. Most of all, let them know you see them as people first. Let them know they aren't just an "asset". Build that connection, and you instil in them a sense of welcoming and well-being. #employeedevelopment #employeeexperience #onboardingexperience #peoplefirst

🚀 Day 1 Onboarding: Setting the Tone for Success 🚀 The first day for a new team member is crucial! It’s our chance to make them feel welcome, valued, and ready to thrive. Here are key elements to elevate the Day 1 experience: 🤝 Warm Welcome: A friendly introduction sets the stage. Start with a personalized welcome message, team intros, and maybe even a welcome gift to make them feel right at home! 🗣️ Clear Communication: Establish expectations early on. A one-on-one meeting, outlining the role, goals, and a schedule for their first few days, makes a big difference. 💻 Tools & Resources: Avoid the “first day waiting game” by having all logins, devices, and resources ready. Let them dive in seamlessly. 🌟 Share the Culture: Introduce your company’s values and mission. Help the new hire feel connected to the big picture from day one. 👥 Buddy System: Pair them with a buddy or mentor. This helps them navigate the unknown, answer questions, and integrate socially. 🎯 Set Up for Success: A balanced onboarding schedule that combines work training with social engagement is key. It's not just about what they learn, but also about who they meet and how they feel! A well-executed Day 1 sets the foundation for an engaged, motivated, and productive team member. Did you know 30% of new hires leave a job within the first three months? This highlights the critical nature of investing in a solid onboarding process and comprehensive training programs. From the moment a new team member joins, it's vital to make their integration process as smooth and informative as possible. Not only does this involve thorough training on services, product lines, and protocols, but also ensuring a warm, welcoming onboarding experience. Feeling overwhelmed in a new role can deter even the most enthusiastic employees. However, many product and technology brands provide training and sales support; if you’re without a dedicated training coordinator, leveraging these resources can significantly enhance your team's skill set and confidence. Remember, a well-trained employee is a confident and productive one. #EmployeeRetention #OnboardingSuccess

One of the most significant adjustments a learning professional can make is to align learning with the workflow. Learners need to encode what they learn into memory according to their workflow process. This is especially vital when onboarding a new hire. The speed in which new hires become productive on-the-job increases their self-efficacy which in turn fuels their engagement. Here's a link to a blog that discusses this further: https://lnkd.in/d8bE_S2u #5momentsofneed #workflowlearning

How to welcome a new employee the right way? It is important to prepare thoroughly for your employee’s first day to start their journey on the right foot. The first 6 months are always a difficult learning curve so it is important to work hard to retain the new employee. Here are some of my top tips: 👉 Make sure that the onboarding documents are sent, signed and returned before their start date. 👉 Prepare their workspace – including equipment, office supplies and email access - prior to them starting. 👉 If it's not a new role, prepare a handover schedule for them to complete and make sure that they are happy it’s achievable before the leaving employee finishes their notice period. 👉 If it's a job creation, you will need to think about a training schedule. 👉 Assign them a mentor - someone who will answer their questions, and who they can turn to if they are experiencing issues. 👉 Make sure they are greeted enthusiastically and check in with them at the end of their first day and throughout their early employment. 👉 Remember mistakes will happen, it's a great way for them to learn and for you to put in extra controls and training where needed. #RecruitmentProcess #NewStarter #NewEmployee
