❓Was it likely that a young woman who grew up under communist rule would connect to Robert Bosch's ideas for a better world? Certainly not, says Antje Scheidler. When she was 15, she experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall and the regime in East Germany. Today she leads the democracy team of our foundation. 💥In the series of “the spark” talks from Bosch associates, she reflects on her personal journey and on the legacy of Robert Bosch with the guiding principle of being humane and respecting human dignity. Welcome to #Dresden! Welcome to Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden (HTW Dresden)! Welcome to the new semester! 🌍✨ This week I welcomed our incredible international students to the beautiful city of Dresden! The diversity among us is truly breathtaking— almost all continents are present Western and Eastern Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South and North America! All coming together with extraordinary professional and personal backgrounds - a unique opportunity for companies to tap into the diverse talent pool available at our faculty and our university! 💡 Lessons insights This week marked the kickoff of my course on Sustainable Supply Chain Management (#SSCM). What did we do? We challenged the status quo, thought outside the box, reimagined our perspectives, exchanged ideas and designed our path forward. The didactics? Thought-provoking Impulses, facilitated discussions, brainstorming sessions, group work, silent writing, utilization of the morphological box and “Ball bearing” 😊 . #Sustainable teaching is not about lecturing; it’s about inspiring and empowering students to explore new horizons and discover their own insights. Truly impressed by my curious and enthusiastic group of Industrial Engineers and our first “blue”-board-picture 👇 we created! Look forward to my new #semester filled with inspiration, creativity, collaborative teamwork, and engaging dialogues with industry leaders and endless possibilities to try, experiment, test, challenge, develop, create!!! 🚀💡 #LLL #Lessonsinsights

Obstacles are key to revealing opportunities and catalyzing growth. That’s why the question, “What are the biggest obstacles to success in your work?” is such a powerful one. In the Leading Academic Change National Survey 2.0 results, the top answers identified a lack of faculty bandwidth, limited time, and university bureaucracy as the most common obstacles to success. Other responses included limited resources and a lack of faculty or leadership buy-in. Knowing these struggles will be instrumental in helping academic innovation units develop targeted strategies for improvement. By addressing challenges, institutions can streamline processes, allocate resources more effectively, and foster a more supportive environment for academic innovation. I love teaching Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I got hooked on teaching/colearning in 2012 Gordon-MIT Engineering Leadership Program. This #innovative class in particular is #special for me. 15.359/6.9160J if you're an interested student, we hope to see you next term! Our students come from 7 different departments at #MIT. 3 different departments at #Harvard, #Wellesley, and #Tufts. This innovate-design-engineer-build-test (idebt) class brings #intradisciplinary mens-et-manus to a whole new level. I rarely see students be so engaged...and never before for a Friday Morning class. Something special is happening. It's not a theory class. Instead we focus on pragmatic radical innovation to solve REAL problems brought to us our sponsors USSOCOM. We have 2 teams working on #secure #realtime #communications AND #extinguishing #lithium #battery #fires. I expect that this cohort of bright innovators will go on to do great things. #Prototypes. #Patents. #Transition. FOUNDING ONE OF THE WORLD'S PREMIER ACADEMIC CENTERS The Intelligence Tsunami is one of the biggest wealth-creating and most disruptive transformations in human history. https://lnkd.in/e4kSNY2m The Intelligence Tsunami. Get Off the Beach, Ride the Wave, or Get Washed Away, is now a #1 New Release on Amazon! Thanks to everyone who read the book and provided feedback. Most say it's a great read with lots of interesting stories. One reader found the book so valuable that she bought copies for ten of her teammates at work. People are sensing and preparing for dramatic AI-driven change. For the next few weeks, I'll share stories from the book of leaders riding waves of change. I hope you enjoy them and they help you inspire your team. A great leader clearly defines an essential mission, attracts top talent to achieve that mission, ensures the team has the needed resources and knows how they will be held accountable, and then gets out of the way and lets talented, creative people do what only they can do. This week's story is about Clemson University President Jim Barker, who executed this better than anyone I’ve seen in my career. Shortly after becoming president in 1999, Jim set a strategic priority for Clemson to become a top-20 public university in the country. Jim named an aspiration that already existed among the broader Clemson community. The vast majority of Clemson constituents bought into a vision bigger than themselves. In subsequent years, it was rare to be in a meeting at Clemson, from recruiting a dean to constructing a building, that someone did not ask how the issue being considered contributed to Clemson’s top-20 goal. Not that there weren’t naysayers. If some people don’t chafe, the idea isn’t truly transformational. Some long-term faculty members believed Clemson was abandoning its roots. Some South Carolina citizens agreed, especially if their children were no longer qualified to be admitted. The greatest resistance to transformational change inevitably comes from those who benefit from the status quo and have difficulty visualizing themselves as a part of the redefined future. Though only thirty miles apart, Clemson and Greenville historically had weak linkages when Jim became president. Many people in Greenville didn’t know you could get to Clemson other than six football Saturdays a year. To help realize his top-20 vision for Clemson, Jim reached outside the internal Clemson community and invited diverse Greenville leaders to a public forum. where he asked, "If Clemson was in Greenville, what would we do differently?" Read the rest of the story at https://lnkd.in/eQrwk64w If you liked the story, I'd love to hear from you and help inspire your team. https://lnkd.in/dbxEnH28
