Today is National Latino Physician Day! 🎉 Did you know that only 6% of physicians are Latino? In the United States the population is 19% Latino and in California the number is 39%. These numbers must change so that our physician workforce can reflect the community, and reduce disparities that exist in the Latino/a population. The National Latino Physician Day Mission Statement: To address the Latino physician shortage crisis, the mission of National Latino Physician Day is to improve the quality of care for the United States Latino patient population by increasing the number of Latino physicians who provide culturally and linguistically concordant care. Women deserve treatments (and apps!) that are validated by science, cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, used successfully by women in "the real world,” and have continuous professional medical involvement. The Leva Pelvic Health System has all of this. A recent study found that most apps for pelvic floor disorders are incomplete and lack medical professional involvement during development. Please share this study. Awareness matters. Women deserve better. Women living with bladder and/or bowel leaks deserve Leva. #data #science #realworlddata https://lnkd.in/eRXTwWqc

Happy National Latino Physician Day! Today, October 1st, we celebrate National Latino Physician Day in the United States. But did you know that only 6% of physicians in the United States are Latino or Latina, despite 19% of the country’s population being Latino? In California, the Latino population is even higher, reaching 40%, with projections to reach 50% by the year 2050. There are significant barriers to healthcare access, inequalities, and poorer outcomes in the Latino/Hispanic population. Having better Latino representation in medicine is necessary for our communities and for the future of medicine in the United States. #nationallatinophysicianday #nationallatinaphysicianday #nationallatinxphysicianday
