Question: What is EmployNV❓ Answer: EmployNV is the statewide brand for Nevada’s public workforce system. It includes the state’s website for workforce services, and a network of American Job Centers that help job seekers and employers with no-cost #employment and #training. EmployNV Career Hubs assist job seekers, EmployNV Business Hubs help businesses, and EmployNV Youth Hubs serve young adults ages 16 to 24. Services at the hubs are available through Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and Nevada’s two local workforce development boards, Nevadaworks and Workforce Connections. (That's us!) A complete list of federal funding sources as required by the Steven’s Amendment can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/et5BkcNu. EmployNV of Southern Nevada

With a declining labor participation rate, now is the time for policymakers to support older workers! National Governors Association National Council on Aging #laborparticipationrate #olderworkers #talent #workforcedevelopment #hiringpractices #hr #policymakers
May is #OlderAmericansMonth in the US. Let’s use this opportunity to send a message to #CareerOneStop Centers and other #workforce development boards and associations. In the US, these are funded by the Department of Labor, businesses and state governments. These agencies should all be supporting #olderworkers, the fastest growing segment of the workforce. They need training to keep up their skills and develop new ones to stay competitive, just like everyone else. Unfortunately, the pickings are slim. This bias against people over 50 should end. Tell them you want: > More skills training for workers and job seekers over age 50 > Priority given to job search support for people over 50 > Programs to support self-employment options for those open to that path Find your Career One-Stop Center here: https://lnkd.in/e8aNqmHk. Change begins when you let them know you care.

Here is $65 million to help #CommunityColleges connect workers to #GoodJobs: Yesterday, DOL's Employment and Training Administration announced this year's Strengthening Community Colleges competition, which heavily focuses on creating Good Jobs using definitions in the Good Jobs Principles. This year's grants--ranging from $1.5 million to $5.75 million--require applicants demonstrate how their projects will build structures that connect workers to jobs that pay well and provide opportunities for advancement. Applicants also must address how they will improve outcomes for underserved populations. Additionally, successful projects will propose sustainable system changes at community colleges as well as sector strategies that include collaborations with employers, the federal workforce system, and secondary schools, among others. September 24 is the deadline to apply. For more information (and to apply), read the funding opportunity announcement here: https://lnkd.in/ei6km863
