🍻 Oktoberfest: MKG Consulting reports Strong Perfomance in 2024. Thanks to our German partners who actively contribute to the MKG Consulting database, we’re able to report an impressive performance in terms of both occupancy and ADR, with ADR being the main driver, during #Oktoberfest. This resulted in an overall 14.4% increase in RevPAR compared to the previous year. 📈 Oktoberfest, known as “#Wiesn ,” performed well in terms of both occupancy and ADR. During the second week, Wednesday showed slight weakness, but this was offset by a strong Sunday. EXPO REAL (Messe München), which started on the last Sunday of Oktoberfest and ran through Tuesday this year, performed exceptionally well compared to last year. The event delivered above-average results for both occupancy and ADR, resulting in an impressive 36% increase in RevPAR over the same period in 2023. Dynamic days at the actual EXPO REAL (Messe München) in #Munich. In a nutshell some first impressions: - #Markets seem to restore gradually, but more than ever focus on real quality developments and projects, of course including top-rated #ESG-characteristics, and that’s a positive sign😀 - #Professionalism, #resilience and #perseverance seems to become awarded again👍 - Increasing appetite again for a broad spectrum of #asset-classes🍽 - Challenging times where it seems that the “silver lining” appears again clearly after years of a “cloudy sky”☀️

This morning I was on The Best You Expo Virtual event .. I must say I haven't had many virtual events for a while, the fashion and sustainability crowd love a IRL.. This time my home office took centre stage ..... It was a great conversation about the power of connections with my business partner Simon Hedley who has worked with me and my/our business for the past 4 years, with the amazing organiser and best you founder - Bernardo Moya plus Joe Gregory who does brilliant things for authors in the space of publishing. Of course as you know connections, collaborations and synergies are a big part of my/our work .. mentioning some of our work with co-founder /author Kenneth Alston on Real Circularity - the connection and shared values and synergies that Ken and I have - as well as some more fun collaborations like Love Big Coats and Tentshare. Big Thanks to Stefan Mathys for the connections recently on that project- as well as the synergies overall. HOW DO OUR EXHIBITION COMPANIES RATE BY SIZE?

Are Nuremberg and LosAngeles the 2 main events in the toys industry? After four very interesting days in Los Angeles, on the occasion of the toys preview, and after several meetings, it seems to me that the map of toy industry events is finally stabilising.  Some events have established themselves as top-level major events, others can be identified as being of local importance, and for others it seems that their positioning is in jeopardy. Among the first-tier, globally important ones are LosAngeles in September and Nuremberg in January, which seem to have become/remained the pivots of this industry. Hong Kong, in its January appointment, both in its role as a gateway to Asia (seen from the West), which the presence in the exhibition fair may have (more than the showroom in TST East) and for the role it plays for companies (such as PlayAround) that develop and produce, could remain as a reference point, but perhaps on a second level.   For the other events, it seems to have remained a local level role, referring to the country in which they take place. It remains to be seen, however, whether New York, so close to the Los Angeles preview in April, will be able to carve out a top-level position in its 2025 edition, to be held from 1st to 4th March. Perhaps by bringing the date forward a little, as they have announced that it will be in 2026 and 2027.  And finally, for some events so dear to us, it seems that the future holds no bright expectations.
