Celebrating Children's Day & JUWEDI’s Impact! On Children's Day, JUWEDI celebrates the incredible children we work with and the positive impact we've made together! As John Dewey, the American philosopher, said, "'Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.'" At JUWEDI, we believe a fulfilling life requires nurturing both the mind and spirit. That's why our programs address the holistic needs of marginalized children. Empowering Children Through Education & Well-being: Education: Through our "Out of School" project, we've successfully reintegrated children back into the education system, equipping them with the skills to thrive. Hygiene & Well-being: We've tackled period stigma and ensured girls' continued education through hygiene workshops and sanitary pad distribution. Overcoming Challenges: During the pandemic, JUWEDI provided vital relief materials to rural schools, helping children return to classrooms and navigate disruptions. These are just a few examples of how JUWDI empowers children. We believe every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and reach their full potential! Let's Champion Children Together! Children are the future, and investing in their well-being today secures a brighter tomorrow for all. Here are a few ways you can make a difference: Become a Mentor: Share your knowledge and experience with a child who could benefit from guidance. Volunteer Locally: Many organizations rely on volunteers to support children's education, healthcare, or extracurricular activities. Advocate for Change: Raise awareness about issues affecting children and support policies promoting their well-being. Remember, every action, big or small, has the power to create a brighter future for children. Join us in celebrating Children's Day and making a difference in the lives of children everywhere! #JUWEDI #ChildrensDay #EmpoweringChildren #Education #Wellbeing #HolisticSupport

Guess what, we today concluded a very successful Learner’s conference in Obongi district thanks to our partners @AKOfoundation. If you’ve been following over the past three days you know what we mean. But the completion is not the only success, the actual success is the seed sown in these young minds that represented their different schools. We are confident of future leaders and learners who are aware of their rights. 🌟 Investing in the Future, One Child at a Time 🌟 At Kids Arise Vihiga, we believe every child deserves access to quality education. It’s not just about textbooks and classrooms—it’s about unlocking potential, fostering confidence, and creating opportunities for every child to thrive. In Vihiga County, many children face barriers to access to quality education. Scarce learning materials, limited mentorship, and a lack of reading culture can hold them back. That’s why we’ve committed to transformative programs like: 📖 The #FromReaderToReaderProgram – providing storybooks to rural learners, encouraging a love for reading and debate. 🌟 Mentorship – guiding children toward realizing their dreams. 📚 Providing education materials that are scarce in schools – increasing the learners’ chances of getting quality grades. When every child has a fair shot at success, we create stronger communities and brighter tomorrows. No child should be left behind. Together, we can make this a reality. #EducationForAll #VihigaCounty #EmpowerChildren #KidsAriseVihiga

Abaarso Network receives three-year grant from DP World We are excited to announce that DP World is funding the largest operating grant in Abaarso Network’s history to support our Kaabe school in Berbera, one of Somaliland’s most underserved cities. This three-year grant builds on our strong partnership with DP World, which has provided high school and university scholarships for years. DP World scholarships at Barwaaqo University gave access to young women to train as teachers and ultimately lead new primary school classrooms, such as those at Kaabe Schools. With this generous support, we are able to expand student-centered primary education in Berbera, creating lasting opportunities for its students and community.

Why is designing equitable schools, learning environments and workplaces so important to us? Maraea Hunia, our Tumu Te Aho Māori, recently spoke with North and South Magazine where she shared her stories about the deep rooted inequities and discrimination Māori have faced in both education and workplace settings. Shedding light on the importance of designing for equity, Maraea recalls from history that: “Native Schools were set up by design to prepare Māori students for low-skilled manual occupations and to culturally assimilate them by stripping their language. But even the manual and agricultural training was at a lower level than that offered to Pakeha.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gGBYfjgT

Since 2014, the TY Danjuma Foundation has provided nutritious meals to pupils at Fadama Primary School, a strategy designed to boost enrolment and retention in school. To the ordinary eyes, this may look like every mainstream empowerment program, but in the eyes of the Foundation this addresses one of the most overlooked causes of indifference to education, this school feeding program has increased the enrollment percentage and has kept students focused enough to continue learning. We cannot as a nation ignore the sad reality that the most basic needs impede our progress as a society, If we must prioritize our future, we must prioritize education.
