🌟 Bringing Hope Through Education: Hearts Educators and Children's Future Society Visit Mwanjuni Schools 🌟 Today, the 27th November 2024, Hearts Educators, in partnership with Children's Future Society (CFS), had the privilege of visiting Mwanjuni Primary and Secondary School to assess the need for educational support programs. During our visit, we engaged with the Secondary school Head teachers to better understand the challenges they face. From limited learning materials to overcrowded classrooms, it was clear that the school could benefit from our educational programs to enhance the learning experience for its pupils. The school has extended an invitation to our team to be part of the school’s next week Friday’s closing day. This will accord our teams an opportunity to interact directly with pupils, listen to their dreams and aspirations, and will help us in designing tailored support programs to ensure that every child at Mwanjuni has access to quality education. From providing essential school supplies to capacity-building for teachers, we are committed to working hand in hand with the school and community to make a lasting impact. We thank the Mwanjuni School administration and the Children's Future Society for their collaboration and shared commitment to empowering children through education. Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind. 📚💡 Investing in education today means transforming lives tomorrow. #EducationForAll #PartnershipForChange #HeartsEducators #ChildrensFutureSociety #EmpoweringCommunities #ZambiaEducation

Pusat Khidmat Rakyat Parlimen Batu Gajah remains committed to supporting students pursuing higher education, whether at polytechnics or universities. Education is the foundation of family development, and strong families build thriving communities, which ultimately shape the nation. If we aspire for a prosperous country, we must place serious emphasis on the family institution. Particular focus should be given to families from the B40 group, ensuring they receive the attention they need. It's essential to help underprivileged families break free from the cycle of poverty, and one way to achieve this is through government support for the education of their children. By investing in education, we secure returns that far exceed expectations. Although the contributions from Pusat Khidmat Rakyat Parlimen Batu Gajah may be modest, they offer vital assistance to B40 students by helping cover initial costs, such as transportation and accommodation. I urge corporate entities to increase their CSR efforts, particularly in the form of educational support for our youth, as this will greatly enhance the quality of education in our nation. Recently, the Pusat Khidmat Rakyat Parlimen Batu Gajah provided educational assistance to three students from Taman Batu Gajah Perdana. We hope that these students will excel in their chosen fields and, in turn, uplift their families from hardship. Let’s continue to invest in the future through education!

Teachers are lucky to get a longer Tobaski break than most workers, but let's not squander those extra days at home by not thinking about how we can improve The Gambia's education system. Take a look at this picture. It's from a classroom in the 1920s, one hundred years ago. But give the poor man some long trousers to hide those wobbly knees, and put the children in a more modern uniform, and this could be almost any classroom in The Gambia today. Chalk and blackboards, children sat in silent rows like gravestones, facing the teacher, not a book or colourful poster in sight, and not a smile to be seen. This picture is from the first of my "Education Matters" newsletter posts, one of a 3-part series titled "The Gambia Deserves A World-Class Education System." You can read it here: https://lnkd.in/eDEwQVHE Part 2 can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eBAqgz7B Part 3 will be live over the coming weekend. Subscribe to the newsletter to be sure to see every newsletter post. You may not like or agree with everything we do at Children First, but if the country is to move forward then we need to have these debates. Education is the key to national development, but The Gambia is in the midst of a population explosion with literally tens, even hundreds of thousands more children approaching school age at a time when many Gambian children already in school are struggling to read and write. It doesn't have to be that way.

For 8-year-old Chhin Chhay Mam, school is more than a place to learn—it’s a stepping stone to becoming a teacher. Similarly, Seavjinh Len, also 8, finds joy in learning through songs, games, and crafts in her classroom, envisioning a future as a doctor who saves lives in her community. These stories are just a glimpse of the transformative impact of USAID’s work in Cambodia. In schools participating in the national Early Grade Reading program, supported through the USAID Inclusive Primary Education Activity (IPEA), Grade 3 reading speeds rose from 32 to 50 words per minute, and comprehension rates nearly doubled. In partnership with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport, this effort has reached over 850,000 students and trained 16,000 teachers to create inclusive, engaging classrooms across 22 provinces.
