https://lnkd.in/dPNrNNz3 I love old nostalgic things which are dripping with history. There's something about those Sakura hexagonal winding wall clocks which chime every hour with a beautiful note that reverberates through the arched balconies and high-ceiling rooms that can easily fit a 1bhk of today. The balconies which we used to call verandahs are the size of today's bedrooms x 3 or 4 by length. Those antique Burma Teak furnitures still stand strong and most of them have crossed a century or more retaining their original polish, although faded at many places. Those mossy marble outdoor statues talk of times gone by, being silent witnesses to the laughter and the sorrow of every family. The clay ovens are broken antiques weeping in one corner beneath the stairwell. The green paints on the lattices try to look fresh despite the rusty iron pillars that hold them together. A cottage piano somewhere inside tries to convey lineage and heritage. Grand pianos are rarely seen except in the auction houses and certain music shops in the old cities of India. The dusty intricate chandeliers at times light up a glimmer of hope and nostalgia, while the candlabras in red and green ensconced glass shades depict bygone aristocracy. Some rooms have carpets but mostly it's the red or green cement flooring glossed by tubs of Waxpol. Sometimes those are memories for me in bits and pieces like a tattered rug. Divorces aren't good. The video below is of a place in old Kolkata which still stands. One of the Mullick family properties is also known as the famous Marble Palace in Kolkata. The new generation wouldn't understand this part we cherish so much. What youngsters see these days in the business schools and new age colleges are nothing in terms of property valuation when it comes to the stuff I am referring to. The SUVs and flashy cars don't appeal to me. I appreciate humans who have a class of their own and exude it through silence even if they are walking on the streets. I find it funny when some people dangle their car keys from their trouser pockets purposely or keep it on the table during business meetings. It's as if the brand of that one car is all they are worth.

Corian, wood, and marble are three different materials with significantly different compositions, strengths, durability, and costs associated with each of these materials. *Corian is a manufactured material, made of acrylic polymers and bauxite. *Marble is a natural stone occurring in nature, made of carbonates. It is treated, shaped, and polished before installation in homes. *Wood is naturally occurring, and every wood has different properties based on deriving from vivid plants. In each home, temples differ, but the feeling remains the same, that of spirituality. A mandir or a puja room, a space designated for prayer, is an integral part of many Indian homes. Temples are like homes to gods and goddesses and thus should be well lit and clean. It also serves the purpose of helping the devotees concentrate and be peaceful while chanting the mantras, delving them into a state of meditation. When selecting a temple for their home, the prime factors to keep in mind are its durability, aesthetics, stain, and heat resistance, to name a few.

Recently, forest department authorities in Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitharama Raju district cut the bark of an Indian laurel tree, with water gushing out. About Indian laurel tree: Scientific name: Terminalia elliptica (syn. T. tomentosa) Other names: Asna; saj or saaj; Indian laurel; marutham (Tamil); matti (Kannada); ain (Marathi); taukkyan (Burma); asana (Sri Lanka); and casually crocodile bark because of the characteristic bark pattern. Habitat: It is mainly found in both dry and moist deciduous forests in southern India up to 1000 m. Distribution: It is principally native to southern and Southeast Asia in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Application: The wood of this tree is used for furniture, cabinetwork, joinery, paneling, specialty items, boat-building, railroad cross-ties (treated), decorative veneers and for musical instruments (e.g. for guitar fretboard). Its leaves are used as food by Antheraea paphia (silkworms) which produce the tussar silk (Tussah), a form of commercially important wild silk. The bark is used medicinally against diarrhoea. Oxalic acid can be extracted from it. The bark and especially the fruit yield pyrogallol and catechol to dye and tan leather. https://lnkd.in/gGCt2SUY
