Sustainability in Wine: Unveiling a New Frontier 🌱 📢 A landmark conference and exhibition on wine sustainability is set to debut in London. The event aims to unite experts from various fields to address the complexities of sustainability in the wine industry. Going beyond the basic definition, the conference will delve into how agriculture, responsible for nearly a third of global greenhouse gas emissions, intersects with wine production. Discussions will include the impacts of climate change on wine cultivation and the industry's efforts to mitigate environmental damage. 🍇 The wine industry holds the potential for positive environmental impacts, from enhancing biodiversity to sequestering soil carbon. To achieve this, producers must blend traditional cultivation methods with scientific innovations like precision viticulture and carbon-neutral glass bottles. This global yet fragmented industry must adapt sustainability models to local climatic conditions, leading to various certifications and practices worldwide. 🛒 Consumers often find the sustainability landscape of the wine industry overwhelming. While retailers strive to simplify choices, producers play a crucial role in storytelling and transparency. By making sustainability part of their brand narrative, they can guide consumers in making informed choices. The diverse geographic spread of wine production means there are multiple "right" answers, making a universal sustainability model impractical. 🌍 Collaboration is key to advancing sustainability in the wine sector. Organisations like the Sustainable Wine Roundtable, International Wineries for Climate Action, and the Porto Protocol are making significant strides. A new event, Sustainability in Drinks (SID), will further this cause. Scheduled for October 14th in London, it will feature keynotes by Jancis Robinson MW OBE and Judith Batchelar OBE, and aims to become a pivotal annual event for the drinks trade. SID's vision is to foster positive change and provide valuable resources for sustainability in the industry. #Sustainability #WineIndustry #ClimateAction #SustainableWine #EnvironmentalImpact #WineConference #SustainablePractices

🌍🍷 JRE and Vaider Group (SFS Paraćin) Unveil New Sustainable Initiative for Wine Industry! We’re thrilled to announce that Vaider Group in collaboration with JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs, is launching a groundbreaking sustainable wine bottle, set to transform the wine industry and reduce its environmental impact. Building on our successful 2023 partnership, this new wine bottle features a lightweigt design, and is made with hybrid technology combined with Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) glass. The bottle will debut on November 22, 2024, at Wine Vision by Open Balkan Fair, the largest wine fair in the Balkans. Production begins during 🌍 »Sustainable Week« in our affiliate Hrastnik1860, where we’ll also launch the EU’s first end-fired hybrid regenerative glass furnace—a leap forward in eco-friendly manufacturing. ♻️ Why This Matters Our initiative addresses one of the key challenges in the wine industry: the carbon footprint of glass packaging. By creating lighter and more eco-friendly wine bottles without sacrificing quality, we’re paving the way toward a more sustainable wine culture. 🚀 A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future At the JRE International Congress earlier this year, JRE and Vaider Group joined hands with key industry players to sign a manifesto titled, “A Toast to a Sustainable Tomorrow,” committing to the future of sustainable wine practices. Signatories include industry icons like Daniel Lehmann, Renzo Cotarella, Rod Smith, and Jancis Robinson. Together, we aim to make lighter, eco-conscious bottles the industry standard, inspiring a global shift toward sustainability. 🌟 A Proven Partnership Our first project, the re.water carafe, received international acclaim and set a strong foundation for this new venture. With this latest innovation, we’re proving that tangible, sustainable change is not only possible but within reach. We’re looking forward to the journey ahead and are committed to continuing to drive sustainable transformation in the glass and wine industries. Celebrating the first Australian restaurant certified by The Sustainable Restaurant Association... This year Brae Restaurant achieved this extraordinary feat for a venue that continues to set the global standard for sustainability and fine dining. And as if that wasn’t enough, 2024 also marks their 11th consecutive year of holding three hats in the Australian Good Food Guide. A true testament to their innovation and excellence! Co-owned by Dan Hunter and Julianne Bagnato since 2013, Brae Restaurant has always been ahead of the curve. But their success isn’t just about what’s on the plate, but rather how they do business. Dan Hunter shared with us why Brae chose to invest in an eWater system: “We wanted to reduce our chemical footprint. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, and we realised early on that addressing the chemical issue was essential. eWater offered an environmentally friendly solution that actually works.” Switching from traditional chemicals to eWater was a cultural shift for the team, but with eWater’s proven results and support, the transition was seamless. At Brae, every choice reflects their commitment to sustainability, from regenerative farming practices to ditching harmful chemicals. If you want to join Brae and move away from traditional chemicals, visit our profile to learn more. #sustainability #hospitalityleadership #hospitalityindustry
