They are creating awareness about peaceful conflict resolution, helping families and groups come to agreements without the need for external interventions. Their work is creating a lasting impact on the ground. Our women are role models for future generations. They are successfully mediate conflicts and encouraging more women and girls to take leadership roles in community governance and peacebuilding. They are strengthening social networks. They are collaborativing with other community members, building stronger bonds and networks that enhance social cohesion and collective problem-solving. They provide access to resources and support through community dialogues structures.They connect community members with resources, services, or external support, further enhancing the well-being of their communities. Few or no studies have been undertaken that break down the peacebuilding activities of Grassroots Women Leaders GWL into vital pieces that support the realization of the purpose of UNSCR1325. The study investigated how the activities of GWL in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon, through four themes of interest Gender Based Violence, Women’s Economic Empowerment, Menstrual Hygiene Management and Social Media Activism that serve as pieces of peace, were contributing towards peacebuilding and the implementation of UNSCR1325. A qualitative descriptive research design was employed. Primary and secondary data was respectively gathered through semi structured interview questionnaires and from the Facebook and Twitter accounts of Eight 08 participants who were purposively sampled, and the findings thematically analyzed. The findings revealed that despite being marginalized and underrepresented, Anglophone Cameroon GWL through the four themes, and based on their conceptualizations of peace, have been contributing to peacebuilding and the implementation of the Cameroon National Action Plan CNAP to UNSCR1325. Despite the lack of complete ownership over their project outcomes as a result of imposed project guidelines from international funders, administrative bottlenecks and other structural inequalities, these women are realizing sustainable peace using bottom up approaches. The study concludes that the various locally conceived, “human centered” and community driven peacebuilding activities of GWL serve as vital pieces of peace that contribute to building the big picture of world peace and supporting the realization of the purpose of UNSCR1325. I am deeply honored to have been one of the initiators and co-organizers of the inaugural 1st European Forum of Women from Kyrgyzstan, organized by the Danaker diaspora of women from Kyrgyzstan in Poland and the Migration and Human Trafficking Council under the Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic. This historic event took place on March 9, 2024, in the vibrant capital city of Warsaw, Poland. With over 100 participants hailing from 14 European countries, this event served as a powerful platform for women's empowerment. The primary objective of the forum was to unite parliamentarians from the Kyrgyz Republic, Polish public authorities, representatives of EU institutions, Kyrgyz Diaspora in the European Union, and relevant organizations with women migrants from Kyrgyzstan across Europe. The focus was on fostering dialogue and coordination to better support and facilitate the integration of Kyrgyz women migrants into European societies. The event was structured to encourage interaction, with a dynamic format that included three insightful panel discussions: 1. Panel 1: «Voices of Empowerment: Unlocking Opportunities for Women from Kyrgyzstan in Europe.» 2. Panel 2: “Cultural Tapestry: Weaving Integration and Preservation Together” has become a source of ideas and inspiration! 3. Panel 3: "“Breaking Chains: Women’s Rights, Legal Journeys, and the Fight Against Human Trafficking” Q&A sessions provided an avenue for direct engagement and knowledge exchange, while captivating storytelling segments offered inspiring perspectives. Furthermore, a dedicated networking session facilitated connections among participants, and an exhibition showcasing Kyrgyz culture added a colorful and enriching dimension to the overall experience. Celebrating Human Rights Day with WCCIMA & UNHCR! In partnership with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, WCCIMA hosted a transformative workshop titled “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Advancing Human Rights through Economic Inclusion.” The event opened with welcome speeches by Mr. Mohammed Fall, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Dr. Vanessa Phala-Moyo Moyo, the ILO country Director. The event, moderated by Adwoa Kufuor ,Senior Human Rights Advisor, UN, featured an engaging panel of experts, including Mr. Ayo Sotinrin (SAO Investment), Ms. Nesreen Elmolla (UN Women Deputy Representative) , Ms. Rosemary Igboyi (NHRC Deputy Director, Legal), Habiba Ali (CEO, Sosai Renewable Energies) @sosairen and representatives from UNDP Key discussions centered on bridging gender gaps in economic opportunities, advancing human rights through women-led businesses, and crafting policy recommendations for inclusive entrepreneurship. A workshop led by Ms. Naomi E. Nwokolo. Esq Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Nigeria explored embedding human rights in business practices, offering practical strategies for ethical and impactful entrepreneurship. Wrapping up the event for the day, our DG Weyinmi (Wey) Eribo and Ms Adwoa Kufor launched a joint statement of collaborating between both organizations to continue to advocate for the economic rights of women in Nigeria. In a powerful effort to transform perceptions and elevate women's participation and leadership, #Mohcam in collaboration with the #OpenSocietyFoundations, is proud to share the impactful strides made through our Focal Persons in the implementation of the "Women Mediation Project" in the North West Region. They carried out Community Sensitization across all 34 sub-divisions, reaching over 8,500 individuals. Through these sessions, we focused on the critical role women play in decision-making and conflict resolution processes. By promoting legal frameworks like UN Resolution 1325, the discussions emphasized the importance of including women as peace actors and mediators, we are helping to reshape communities to recognize the value of women’s leadership in peacebuilding. This initiative is not just about changing perceptions it's about fostering a more inclusive, peaceful future where women are at the forefront of mediation and conflict resolution. Newly trained women mediators were also introduced, encouraging communities to rely on their expertise in resolving disputes. The impact is already being felt, as more communities begin to embrace the leadership and unique perspectives that women bring to the table.
