Breastfeeding plays a vital role in the well-being and growth of infants. It offers a unique blend of nutrients and antibodies that safeguard babies against various illnesses and infections, promoting their overall health. The act of breastfeeding also fosters a strong bond between the mother and child, enhancing emotional connections. Research indicates that breastfed infants have lower risks of developing chronic conditions later in life. https://buff.ly/3OYG7bN #ChildHealth #NourishingBonds.

We are speaking at SXSW this March! If you are headed to the festival come watch Charles Johnson and I. First Foods Justice: A New Path to Health Equity Despite the well-documented benefits of breastfeeding, mothers and birthing people from historically marginalized groups experience significantly lower rates of participation compared to their white counterparts. To improve health equity it's crucial to confront the systemic barriers that hinder breastfeeding success. This session delves into the historical legacies of harmful practices that have shaped maternal health outcomes for women of color, exploring the intricate dynamics of systemic inequality in maternal and infant care through the lens of breastfeeding. Join us as we examine the scientific underpinnings of these disparities, share insights on community-driven solutions, and highlight pathways toward equitable care that can transform outcomes for marginalized communities. #birthequity #healthequity #blackmaternalhealth #mamaglow #mamaglowfoundation #sxsw https://lnkd.in/e-qA6ZjT

Access to safe and appropriate Caesarean-Section (C-Section) can mean the difference between life and death for a mother and her newborn. Today is International Day for Maternal Health and Rights. Globally, nearly 300,000 women die each year from preventable causes due to pregnancy and childbirth. One THIRD of these deaths (nearly 100,000 maternal deaths every year), and up to 70% of neonatal deaths, could be prevented with access to timely C-Sections, when they are needed. This is why we are working to make C-Sections available to every woman who needs it, as part of a strong continuum of care. No matter where she lives. Recently, our Women's Health team started work on the C-Safe project, which seeks to strengthen capacity for safe C-Sections. 💡 Learn more about this project on our Women's Health page: https://lnkd.in/eZHvueY3

2wI am a fan of C4D. I have witnessed tangible progress in women and children’s health with few improvements in behaviors. Teaching mothers simple gestures to be modified in their daily lives can improve the heath of the entire family, mostly the children who Depend on them. It all starts with breastfeeding!
