"With all due respect to my former professors, I’ve long believed I gained more knowledge in kitchens, bars, and dining rooms than any college could ever hold." — Anthony Bourdain Watching Parts Unknown on CNN was always more than just a food show for me—it was a masterclass in culture, human connection, and the shared stories that unite us across borders. Bourdain’s travels reminded us that some of the greatest lessons come from real-world experiences and diverse perspectives, well beyond the walls of a classroom. No matter your role—whether CEO, entrepreneur, or professional in any field—hands-on learning and exposure to different cultures provide invaluable lessons. Curiosity, adaptability, and learning by doing are the keys to continuous personal and professional growth. Let’s embrace the journey of lifelong learning, wherever it takes us. #LifelongLearning #NetComLearning #AICERTs #CulturalAwareness #RealWorldExperience #AnthonyBourdain #PartsUnknown #GrowthMindset

The 2024 Recap - I love to review all that happened this year as I look forward to 2025. Here are some highlights: 🧶 I learned to crochet - thanks to The Woobles. 📚 I read 24 books (more fiction than a typical year as I got into some classics - like Around the World in 80 Days). ✈️ 57 flight segments (pretty sure this is right between all the airlines). Remember that most roundtrips from Boise are 4 segments 🤣. 🎤 Spoke at 8 conferences on Food Safety, Quality, and/or Innovation (3 were International - Canada 2x and Spain). 🛻 Four family road trips out of state (Montana, Oregon, California, Utah). Picture of some of the crochet projects and me speaking in Toronto. Here is where I need some help. What is up for next year? 1. Executive MBA. Leaning towards Washington State University. What school or program do you recommend? 2. Speaker Training - I want to improve my storytelling. Do you know of a workshop (2 days preferred) to hone speaking skills? 3. Pretty sure I don't need encouragement for my yarn obsession, but if you want to share your favorite crochet projects I would love to see them.

Learning from mistakes is easier said than done! The more times you knock on that door the sooner it will open. Learn Laugh Speak is my fourth concept to business. My first was a sushi train in Australia when I was 21. I made my exit from that business when I was 27. Recently, I found a book of personal and business notes from my first business to today. Three points still hit me hard to this day: - Think long term but act short term. - A loss is a win in disguise if you search for it. - You control your mind, and no one can stop that. Learning from mistakes doesn't come naturally. I've made some catastrophic mistakes. Did I see them all as learning opportunities? No, of course not! You naturally want to be right and often find excuses for being wrong. But the truth is, people make mistakes and make wrong decisions. The only way to move forward is to keep banging on that door till it opens. Because eventually it will open. And you will be there to run through! #Motivation #Mistakes #Learning #Support #Together

Someday, we'll have a conversation about the 𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 on LinkedIn... But for now, does this face look like someone you'd want to facilitate your L&D session? When was the last time you attended a training program? How was it? Share what you vividly remember from that experience- the ambiance, the facilitator, the lecture, or maybe the food 🍕 (I know, food's probably your pick, especially if you're a foodie 😁). ————————————————————- #learninganddevelopment #growth #20dayslinkedinchallengewithhauma #workforcedevelopment

“I don’t think there is ever a ‘perfect’ time to leave your job and uproot your life, so once I got excited about [business school] I wanted to start as soon as possible,” shares Jack Manning T’26. Manning, who spent several years working in payment operations at Toast, wanted to pivot to more strategic work—and have a personally and professionally transformative experience in the process. “Based on every conversation I had with alumni, as well as my own research about the school, Tuck seemed like the perfect place to fuel that growth,” he says. “I knew that Tuck, and Hanover, would provide the immersive environment I was looking for, and I wanted to be ‘all in’ on the experience which I didn’t think I would get at a school in a major city.” https://lnkd.in/eB-i37nR

Cook with the heat..not with the flames 🔥 Living in Texas, I learned how to BBQ. Prior to being taught by a true grill master, I used to think that the flames made the BBQ. This resulted in the outside of the meat being crispy, while the inside was not properly cooked. Similarly, in life, we often do what seems to make sense, which doesn't always yield the best results. In the business world, this principle holds true as well. According to the International Coaching Federation, businesses that invest in coaching can see a return on investment of up to 700%. Be willing and open to learning—just one tweak or mindset change can dramatically improve your productivity. Be a lifelong learner, be teachable, be humble. Last tip: use charcoal, not gas (unlike me in the picture), if you want real Texas-style BBQ. 🍗 #TexasBBQ #Grilling #BusinessCoaching #ROI #LifelongLearning #Mentorship #CoachingBenefits #BBQTips #CharcoalNotGas #RealBBQ

Meet the DEI Propel London 2024 alumni! Yesterday the six of us had the unique opportunity to get together and experience a full day of Dr. Sandra Upton signature course. What I loved the most about the DEI Propel experience was that ✅ it was incredibly practical. We left with a robust, step-by-step guide of HOW to think, design and implement DEI and in fact any workplace culture and change strategy in organisations. And most importantly, how to overcome resistance and bring people along. ✅ there was a great balance between being given information and insights and getting us to apply them in context of an existing client or organisation, which really helped us to contextualise and operationalise the content. ✅ before we went anywhere near DEI strategy, we first talked about and implemented our mental health strategy. This is also something Sandra emphasises in her book “Make it last.” It was so refreshing because these are three components that most courses, masterclasses and programmes completely overlook and lack. All credit to Sandra for bringing such an incredible group of people together and thank you all participants for your invaluable insights and openness. I left empowered and energised to level up my service offering, so my dear existing and future clients - this is my investment in you, too! Let’s make the work last together! #Learning #Leadership #Entrepreneurship

The BRC Summer School isn't successful without group coaches, and here's why 👇 Meet Emma Holmes, one of our newest Group Coaches at the BRC Summer School. Emma is from Furniture Village and joined us last year as a delegate. We're thrilled to have her onboard! Here's what you need to know about Emma: ✨ What's changed in your mindset since attending the BRC Summer School? My biggest mindset change is confidence and belief. It was amazing how the Summer School experience and my amazing team ignited something within. I definitely had imposter syndrome, and shied away from presentations, stayed super reserved in meetings. However, that’s changed. I speak up with conviction now and I’m not afraid to be wrong. ✨ Is there anything you would do differently now that you've attended the BRC Summer School? I now ‘coach’ my team, encouraging them to be open to challenging learning, and in turn they ‘coach’ their teams. Along with the leads in my team we are building a more solid learning and development programme. I would hope to send my leads to Summer School in the future. ✨ What do you look forward to most about being a Group Coach at the BRC Summer School? Watching the next group grow, knowing exactly that ‘first day’ feeling. I am able to support them to make sure they get the most out of every minute of the journey. ✨What do you hope to gain as a coach at the BRC Summer School this year? I want to mentor like Liz, my group coach last year! I love people. I love watching people grow and feel grateful to be part of that journey, both in and out of work. However, spending time with Liz last year solidified how I would like to lead in the future. I want to take people on a journey 💙 --------- Hello! 👋 We are BRC Learning and our mission is to 'develop exceptional leaders for the retail industry'. Become the self-aware leader the world needs. We are creating a disruptive programme, the BRC Summer School, that creates self-aware leaders who understand themselves, their values, and how these can align with the organisation: https://lnkd.in/evi6tyns #InclusiveLeadership #DiversityAndInclusion #CultureOfBelonging
