Good advice

Yesterday, I celebrated my 60th birthday. Here are a few things I've learned along the way to this milestone: -God, family, friends, work is the right order. -Bad pizza is still pizza. -A cloudy day at the beach is still a day at the beach. -Thinking you’re right doesn’t mean it’s true. -Thinking someone else is wrong also doesn’t mean it’s true. -Actually, there are dumb questions. -God will absolutely give you more than you can handle, but not more than He can handle. -Learning to say “no” is a game changer. -Wisdom is what happens when you run out of dumb things to do. -There’s too much politics and not enough party in today's political parties. -Every situation can teach you something even if the lesson is what NOT to do. -You’re capable of more than you give yourself credit for. -Kindness matters. -Love wins. -Being generous doesn’t always involve money. -Time is precious, don’t waste it. -Regretting your past mistakes is pointless. Accept them, learn from them, and move on! -Things don’t always have to happen for a reason. -Forgiveness is for you, not them. -Never miss a chance to make someone laugh. -I have no idea how to “act my age”. I’ve never been this old before! Thanks for reading!

Love it mike, true- ever since we adopted this psychological, progressive parenting paradigm in the 1960's, with absolutely no evidence it will work, the family has gotten progressively more codependent on each other. I talking about parents codependent on their children to give them affirmation and validity. Think about this, for the first time in western culture a generation(1960's) decided to not raise their children the way they were raised. We have been following the pattern ever since and look at where we are. Many families are hanging in their by a thread at best or flat out chaos at worst. Maybe we should look back in time to see what worked and repeat that pattern. Western culture for centuries used the Biblical model for parent and it was extremely successful in perpetuating culture from generation to generation, until we threw it out and replaced it with the experts progressive, psychological. Look where we are today, two year olds on meds for normal two year old behavior. Just maybe we should look back and see, survival of the future demands it!

Ancient historians observed a recurring pattern in civilizations—growth, flourishing, and inevitable decline—driven by an internal decay born of the very comforts that prosperity brings. This cycle is reflected in society’s response to hardship. Adversity forges resilience and strength, leading to periods of prosperity. Yet, as comfort and wealth increase, so does complacency, ultimately breeding weakness and inviting hard times once more. In every era, a new generation must rise, strong enough to confront and overcome these challenges, renewing the cycle of growth. This is a powerful reminder that the strength of a society lies not in its ease, but in its ability to endure, rebuild, and thrive in the face of adversity. Strength emerges from struggle, prosperity breeds fragility, and it is only through hardship, that we rediscover the resilience to rise again.
