How I Mastered Time Zones as a Virtual Assistant (and You Can Too!) Back in the day, when I was a new virtual assistant, one of my biggest challenges was managing time zone differences. I remember a specific scenario where I was supposed to attend a call with a client based in New York. I assumed their time was the same as mine and didn’t double-check. I logged into the meeting at what I thought was the right time, only to realize I was two hours late. The client had waited, then left. I was so embarrassed, and it taught me a tough lesson. To solve this, I started using Time Buddy, a tool that shows time differences between cities. Now, before I schedule anything, I always confirm the client’s time zone and match it to mine. I also double-check meeting times and send reminders to ensure we’re aligned. These small steps make a huge difference in avoiding mix-ups. For new VAs, using tools like Time Buddy is a lifesaver.
