#RWTHstartup RIIICO receives Siemens Inventor of the Year Award | The Aachen-born start-up with roots in RWTH Aachen University took home Siemens‘ prestigious Inventors of the Year Award in the category "Open Innovation" for its breakthrough #AI technology. The award presented by Siemens CTO Peter Koerte honors RIIICO’s unique solution for transforming #3D factory scans into engineering-friendly 3D models. “Being the first start-up ever to receive this award is a tremendous honor to our entire team that has been working really hard on this technology for more than 4 years,” said Jan Büchsenschütz, co-founder and COO of RIIICO who accepted the award on behalf of the team on Wednesday evening. And throughout those years of technology development, RWTH's long-standing partner Siemens has been a strong ally of the young start-up. The team's #SuccessStory began in Aachen in 2021, when Jan Büchsenschütz, Felix Fink and Patrick Mertens decided to turn their idea of visual factory twins based on 3D scanning and AI into reality and founded their own start-up RIIICO. As part of our Siemens Research and Innovation Ecosystem Aachen Arc, the three former students at RWTH Aachen University pitched their technology to the university's strategic partner Siemens. Since then, the founders and industry experts have been working together closely across different factories in many use-cases. The Inventors of the Year Award marks the latest milestone in the close collaboration between RIIICO and Siemens, highlighting the importance of cooperation between research, start-ups and industry. Congratulations to the entire team on this remarkable achievement! #SiemensRIEAachenArc #technology #transfer #innovation #startups #entrepreneurship #deeptech
