Happy World Accreditation Day! 🌍 09 June 2024 marks World Accreditation Day (WAD), a global initiative established by IAF and ILAC to highlight the value of accreditation. This year’s theme, Accreditation: Empowering Tomorrow and Shaping the Future, examines the impact of accreditation as digitalization, new technologies, and sustainability concerns continue to change our world. At CALA we are proud to play a crucial role in accrediting testing and calibration laboratories to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. Accreditation has been a key pillar of societal assurance for decades, and now underpins trust in almost every aspect of everyday life. Accredited conformity assessment enables the development and adoption of new technologies, particularly in industries and supply chains where precision, safety, and quality are critical. It supports cybersecurity and privacy in an increasingly connected world. As sustainability remains a major concern, accreditation helps consumers and businesses make informed decisions. Mutual recognition arrangements such as the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) and the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) play a vital role in helping businesses transcend geographical borders and industry boundaries. AAA Celebrates Success on World Accreditation Day 2024 June 9th 2024 marks World Accreditation Day (#WAD2024), a global initiative established by ILAC and IAF to promote the value of accreditation. This year’s theme, Accreditation: Empowering Tomorrow and Shaping the Future focuses on how accreditation can help shape various aspects of life in our changing world. Together with these celebrations, the importance of improving the quality of products and services and enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises, Accreditation has been a key pillar of societal assurance for decades, and now underpins trust in almost every aspect of everyday life. Accredited conformity assessment can enable the development and adoption of new technologies, particularly in industries and supply chains where precision, safety and quality are critical. It can support cybersecurity and privacy in an increasingly connected world. As sustainability remains a major concern, accreditation can help consumers and businesses make informed decisions. IAF and ILAC will also be holding a virtual event on 10 June, with more information to be released closer to the date. While the dedication to accreditation is admirable I can’t help thinking seven (if I’ve counted it right) separate safety ones is reflective of how bloated the market is. Seven sets of cost doing all the forms and gathering evidence. Seven membership fees to pay. All of which results in higher costs which need to be passed to the client and not spent on actual conservation work. Surely we can come up with one single system that demonstrates competence?
