As a member of EBIC (European Biostimulants Industry Council), Agrauxine by Lesaffre supports the call for a supportive EU regulatory framework to foster innovation and ensure European farmers have access to the best tools to help them make the transition towards sustainable farming. A New Era in Plant Health🌍🌿 The story begins at the IPM Conference in May at Brussels, where two innovation projects, SAGROPIA and NextGenBioPest were recognized as being the pioneers for the future of plant health. SAGROPIA is leading the way in crop protection with the aim to introduce 13 biological and low-risk pesticides with a specific focus on potato and sugar beet crops. SAGROPIA's mission is to seamlessly integrate these sustainable solutions into comprehensive IPM strategies. NextGenBioPest project is dedicated to developing novel solutions that safeguard human health and address the challenge of increasing crop yields while significantly reducing reliance on chemical pesticides. Nordia Agro participated as a sponsor in the International Symposium on Protected Cultivation, Nettings and Screens for Mild Climates, held at the Agricultural University of Athens (22-26/9/2024). During the symposium, the results of a study conducted by ΕΛΓΟ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΑ ELGO DΙΜITRA on our specialized product, Tenta Paint, were presented. The first AGROECOLOGY co-funded call, "Fostering agroecology at farm and landscape levels" is launched! 🚜 The proposals shall provide a strong strategy for stakeholder engagement in co-creation processes and for communication and dissemination of the project activities and results. Agroecology has been recognized as a policy approach at the G20 agriculture ministers' meeting held in Brazil last week. The annual gathering of the agriculture ministers of the world's 20 biggest nations—including China and Germany—concluded with a call for enhanced multilateral cooperation to establish sustainable agriculture and food systems. The ministers emphasized the need to protect and restore biodiversity, soil health, and to promote climate-resilient crops. "Regenerative agriculture, agroecological practices and other innovative approaches" are named as potential solutions in the final declaration (§13). The greater emphasis on the role of agroecology in the transition towards sustainable and just food systems makes it all the more important for Germany and China to engange on this issue. [The Environmental Challenges of Agriculture] The FARMŸNG project was born out of this necessity: faced with a growing demand for animal and plant proteins and an expanding global population, we must rethink our way of producing food. By 2050, we need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 70%, and traditional agriculture is responsible for 19% of these emissions. Did you know that raising mealworms in our vertical farm emits 40 times less CO2 than raising cattle? Moreover, by using mealworm excrement as organic fertilizer, we can reduce the environmental footprint of rapeseed production in France by up to 19%.
