♻️How can we practically advance circularity and recycling of plastics, closing the loop from waste to new plastic production? ⚡Pyrolysis, a form of "advanced recycling" that uses heat to break down polymers into basic building blocks, is a viable technology that can be scaled-up to significantly increase closed-loop recycled plastics. In our Global Impact Coalition 🌍 project POSU-24: Pyrolysis Oil Supply Upgrade, we are working to build a platform to enable the scale-up of pyrolysis for the increased utilization of pyrolysis oil as a viable alternative feedstock for chemical companies. 🧪 A report from Eunomia Research & Consulting conducted for the Alliance to End Plastic Waste looked at feedstock considerations for pyrolysis, based on discussions with pyrolysis operators in Europe and the US. 🌱 According to the study, "Figure 1 shows a generalized depiction of the placement of pyrolysis within its value chain, showing the full system that must align in order for pyrolysis to contribute to plastics-to-plastics recycling at scale." 🔁 See the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eeTpAM8m #Pyrolysis #ChemicalIndustry #CircularEconomy #PlasticsRecycling #AdvancedRecycling
