Building a resource-efficient future: highlights from California 🌏👇 Last week, TOMRA’s Executive Leadership Team visited Sacramento, #California, where they spent time with TOMRA Recycling, Collection, and Food customers, as well as our local teams - a chance to see firsthand how our solutions are helping communities manage resources more efficiently. 💪 A key moment was visiting a state-of-the-art waste management facility built by VAN DYK Recycling Solutions, where TOMRA Recycling’s AUTOSORT™ machines work hard to sort and recover valuable materials. ♻️ They also attended the grand opening of the Simply Recycle facility in Fair Oaks, designed for efficient CRV beverage container collection. This project came to life thanks to the dedication of many local champions. Thank you to Michelle Martina at CalRecycle, Jacie Leacitt and Ivan Pislar from Ivan's Recycling (Simply Recycle Fair Oaks), Heidi Sanborn from the National Stewardship Action Council, and Susan Collins from the Container Recycling Institute for the great collaboration on this project. At TOMRA, we believe partnerships like these are essential to building a circular economy. Together, we’re finding smarter ways to be resource-efficient and reduce waste. The clock is ticking on plastic pollution. ⏳ Will the world finally agree to act? 👇 It’s day two of the final negotiations for the global plastics treaty - a once-in-a-generation chance to establish binding global rules that address the plastic pollution crisis at its core. TOMRA is committed to tackling this crisis head-on, and we’re optimistic that this treaty can be a game-changer. Our CEO, Tove Andersen, recently spoke with the Financial Times about the true cost of plastic pollution and who’s paying the price. 🆘 Check out the full conversation here 👉 https://lnkd.in/deKZ8cRp #GlobalPlasticsTreaty #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #PlasticPollution

This week, TOMRA is in Busan alongside leaders from around the globe for the INC-5 🌏👇 We champion ideas that work. 💡 Smarter ways to collect and sort waste, innovative recycling tech, and reusable packaging systems, all designed to build a circular economy where plastic waste becomes a thing of the past. Our focus aligns with the treaty’s aim to address plastic pollution from every angle: production, consumption, and waste management. We’re all for this holistic approach. 🤝 As delegates debate key issues over the next few days, we’re proud to share our 10 recommendations for actionable solutions. Check them out here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dsxPnh5c #INC5 #GlobalPlasticsTreaty #CircularEconomy

Making extended producer responsibility work: TOMRA's side event at INC-5 🌏 We kicked off the conversation around real-world solutions for plastics with a special side event ahead of INC-5 in Busan. 👇 Our focus? How extended producer responsibility (EPR) can help manage waste and reshape economies, power up recycling industries, and pave the way for a smarter plastics future. We brought together a group of influential voices to discuss: 💡 Why EPR is a smart investment for governments and businesses. 🔍 How EPR works in practice, turning theory into action. 🌐 Building a strong case for a global plastics agreement that’s both effective and fair. Learn more about EPR in our white paper. You can find it right here 👉 https://lnkd.in/d-tqg3Fz #EPR #INC5 #CircularEconomy #GlobalPlasticsTreaty

Proud to support Keep Scotland Beautiful to help make recycling more accessible and impactful! 🌍👇 Since November 4th, students at the University of Strathclyde have been able to recycle plastic bottles and aluminum cans on-the-go using TOMRA T70 Dual reverse vending machines. Each drink container recycled means a 20p donation to either Homeless Project Scotland or Keep Scotland Beautiful. The campaign, No Lectures: Sort It, Recycle It, is a collaboration between Keep Scotland Beautiful, Strathclyde University, and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP). It’s all about testing how students respond to recycling messaging and selective pressures through qualitative and quantitative research, turning real-life actions into valuable insights for the future of recycling. 💡 It also also supports important local charities. 💚 Learn more about this exciting initiative here 👉 https://lnkd.in/d8Ma6eym #Recycling #KeepScotlandBeautiful #StrathclydeUniversity #DRS

While disposable coffee cups are often labeled as recyclable, their design - cardboard combined with a plastic liner (PLA) - makes them challenging to process. The result? Most are incinerated. 🔥👇 Switching to reusable plastic cups offers a more circular solution. Research shows they can cut CO2 emissions by over 70% compared to disposables and help tackle another big issue: littering. Even from its first use, reuse reduces waste in our communities. That’s why we’re piloting a reusable takeaway packaging initiative in Aarhus, Denmark. By adding a return incentive, we’re making it easier to move away from single-use packaging while protecting the environment. 💪 Here’s a fact to consider: A reusable plastic cup offsets its environmental impact after just six uses, and the benefits only grow with each additional reuse. Want to learn more about our reuse project? Find the details here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dJMMGbht #Reuse #CircularEconomy #PackagingWaste #Reusable City of Aarhus

DRS: It's like buying the drink, but borrowing the container 💡👇 A deposit return scheme (DRS) makes recycling simple and rewarding. When you buy a drink, a small deposit is added to the price. Return the empty container, and you get that deposit back. ♻️ The goal? Less litter, more recycling, and a stronger circular economy where valuable materials are kept in the loop. By giving containers a financial value, DRS not only encourages people to recycle but also shows that materials have real value as resources. Want to know how unredeemed deposits are handled? How retailers are involved? Or how DRS works together with curbside recycling? We’ve got answers in our FAQ 👉 https://lnkd.in/dx9KrEDW #Recycling #CircularEconomy #DepositReturnScheme

What does it take to drive a green transformation in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies? 👇 At TOMRA’s #Xiamen office, we had the privilege of exploring this question alongside Tobias F. Svenningsen, Norwegian Consul General in Shanghai, and representatives from the Huli District Government. Since 2010, TOMRA has been making waves in #China, bringing sensor-based collection and sorting technologies to new heights. This visit, aligned with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Norway and China, highlighted the power of international partnerships in driving green transformation. 💪 As Consul General Svenningsen shared: 💬 "Amid global challenges such as environmental pollution and raw material shortages, establishing effective systems for resource collection, recycling, and sorting is critical. I look forward to TOMRA making even greater contributions to advancing the circular economy in China and globally, helping mitigate resource waste." 💬 A big thank you to everyone who joined us on this inspiring day! #CircularEconomy #Innovation #Partnerships #RecyclingTechnology
