It’s rare to find FMCG brands priced five times higher than the market leader, but Australian chocolatier ZOKOKO Chocolate is one such example. At $17 per 100g, compared to Cadbury’s $3.33 or Lindt’s $6.50, Zokoko’s price demands packaging that justifies its premium status. When shoppers are asked to pay significantly more, they expect an experience that feels exclusive and superior, starting with—and placing huge importance on—the pack design. To align with its luxury positioning, Zokoko’s packaging needs to reflect the same impressions of quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail as the product itself. Everything needs to therefore speak the same language, read more on pack 'Congruency' here: https://lnkd.in/g-xv4Bcu . There's a number of packaging levers available to brands to communicate their high end credentials. Zokoko might just have pulled every one of them! - 🖤 Dark colours 🪙 Metallics 🔖 Quality seals ✨ Gloss finishes ✏️ Embossing 🧩 Unique materials, shapes, structures, and textures Ultimately, price justification will be decided by the contents within - but the packaging couldn't do much more to give it a fighting chance.
We love designing Zokoko's packs, and in our opinion it's the best chocolate on earth! Take a look at their 'Melts' range for real innovation in drinking chocolate!
Thanks Sam Walters, appreciate the mention and kind compliments! We certainly try to put our best foot forward in terms of our brand packaging and presentation and while a premium, it's only half the story... Our bars are entirely hand made from bean-to-bar with some of the rarest cacao on earth to which we add carefully selected organic flavour parings. It's also a point to note that ZOKOKO Chocolate contains nearly HALF the sugar of other brands mentioned (so more cacao) and a great deal more milk in our milk chocolate. In essence we add more so you get a whole lot more authentic organic chocolate! 🍫
