I enjoy chatting with people, gathering insights, understanding matters beyond the surfaces and connecting the dots. I am also looking for opportunities for development and growth in People function.

Mental Muse 03: The Muffin Story I frequent a bakery café every day for my sourdough toast breakfast and over time, I've become friends with the baker (I'll share his amazing story another time). He is fantastic with baking bread loaves like sourdough, soft rolls, baguettes etc. However he struggles with muffins be it chocolate, mango or blueberry. I felt bad seeing them sell gooey, sometimes undercooked, muffins. So one day, I offered to share my foolproof muffin recipe, which he could tweak according to the type of muffin he wanted to make. When we baked together, I understood why his muffins weren't successful, but I also learned something new from him - it's fun to break the rules sometimes. I am by no means an experienced baker, so I make sure to follow the recipe to a tee. If the recipe calls for 0.569g of salt, I measure exactly that, not 0.65g, to avoid wasting ingredients on a failed product. The recipe required creaming the butter with sugar and gradually incorporating the flour and then mashed bananas in the last step. He, however, added the mashed banana to the melted butter, sugar, and eggs, adding the flour last. Essentially, he charted his own course. Into the oven the muffins went, and honestly, when I saw this unique batter, I didn't know what to expect. With the muffins in the oven, I was anxious. I didn't want them to fail. But with a smile, he reassured me, "It's okay! We will learn from it!" Surprisingly, the muffins turned out PERFECT! When I asked the difference between his original recipe and mine, he said it was just the missing baking soda. This muffin-making adventure taught me some life lessons: 💡 It's okay to fail – we just need to learn from it. 💡 It's fun to break the rules occasionally! 💡 Everyone has their unique journey and way of doing things. Uniformity is not a prerequisite for success. 💡 Acknowledging your weaknesses can ironically be your greatest strength 💡 Any form of help can go a long way #MentalLessons #MentalMuse
