🔥🔥 In My Experience 2 Major Factor of Industrial Accident 🔥🔥 ........................................ 🧗🧑🔧 Over the course of five years, I have identified two primary factors contributing to accidents in production or manufacturing industries 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🧑🔧 A. Unsafe Acts :---- 🖇️1. Failure to adhere to safety procedures ⚙️2. Improper use of equipment 🔗 3 .Taking safety shortcuts ⛏️ 4 .Neglecting to wear personal protective equipment 🛠️5. Engaging in reckless behavior, such as running or horseplay 🖇️6. Insufficient training leading to improper task execution 🔧7. Fatigue and distractions causing mistakes or overlooked safety measures 🔩8. Use of broken equipment ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️ 🧑🔧 B. Unsafe Conditions :------ 📐1. Congested workspaces impeding movement 🖌️ 5. Material-related issues: Improper storage, handling, or exposure to hazards 🧯 6. All accidents are preventable, and there are five levels of controls that we can use to address hazards, prevent accidents, and create the safest working environment possible. Keep the following "hierarchy of controls” in mind as you work: ‣ 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: the most effective hazard control. It means removing the hazard entirely. ‣ 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: replacing something that produces a hazard with something that either eliminates or reduces the hazard. ‣ 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: controls or modifications that reduce or prevent workers from encountering hazards. ‣ 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀: processes built into the work procedure that reduce exposure to hazards. ‣ 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗣𝗣𝗘): equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and ear plugs worn as a line of defense against hazards. Utilize these necessary precaution guidelines to maximize security on the job site and keep yourself and others safe. The folks at NALCO knew the old method of relying on tie-offs to protect loading operators was problematic. In addition to limiting mobility and slowing down operations, they also present a potential trip hazard, introducing new risks in a busy loading environment. I'm parked up killing time in a lay-bye admiring the view before going on site to discuss lubrication best practices with a potential, new client. The occupants of the car in front of me in the picture have been discarding their litter out of the windows despite there being four waste bins. The area is awash with discarded litter. Is it any surprise then that contamination control is so difficult to engender in the mindset of personnel when one sees the typical attitude of "it's not my problem, someone else will deal with it"? I've always said that contamination control is a direct function of a company's mindset towards housekeeping. Without a positive focus and reinforcement on this aspect, we may as well give up. It's not difficult, we have seen a culture of safety reinforced through constant reminders, rewards and discipline. Isn't it time we did the same for reliability which impacts safety and the environment? Reliability will always be held back by this issue in my opinion.
