The new She-Box portal serves as a centralized repository of information related to Internal Committees (ICs)and Local Committees (LCs) formed across the country, encompassing both the government and privatesectors. As we celebrate Independence Day and honor the struggles and sacrifices made for our freedom, it’s disheartening to see that the safety and dignity of women remain under threat. Recent news of rape, abuse, and safety concerns continue to rise, and yet, proper actions and safety measures are lacking. This isn’t just an issue in one city—it’s happening across many places, with perpetrators often hiding behind seniority or power. Management and organizations must take stronger steps to safeguard women. Proper background checks, strict adherence to POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) policies, and a zero-tolerance approach towards harassment, regardless of the individual’s title or position, should be non-negotiable. If these actions were taken seriously, many tragedies could be avoided. Women come to work to learn, grow, and contribute, just like anyone else. They should never feel vulnerable or unsafe in their workplace. The culture of carelessness, exploitation, or taking advantage of junior resources in the name of seniority must end. It’s been a decade since the Nirbhaya tragedy, and we cannot continue to let history repeat itself. Safety is not a privilege; it’s a basic human right. November 25 is #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen I want to invite my network to listen and reflect on an important message by Amy Pope, the first female Director General of IOM - UN Migration that highlights the ongoing fight to eliminate gender-based violence. This day reminds us that we must continue to challenge the normalization of violence that affects women globally. UN Women’s #16Days of Activism Campaign calls for action, spanning 16 days until #HumanRightsDay on December 10 and highlighting the link between ending violence against women and girls and the centrality of human rights principles.
