As we end Women’s Month, we want to remind you that the campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. https://lnkd.in/gGdMHZAe

🌟 Reflecting on an incredible Lunch and Learn experience today with Women in Transport hosted by the remarkable Shireen Ali-Khan (She/Her) MCIPR MAPM and featuring the insightful Mel Clarke sharing her experiences. The topic at hand was truly thought-provoking: Intersectionality! Here are my 3 key takeaways: 1️⃣ Intersectionality transcends protected characteristics, as beautifully illustrated in the image below. Let's take a moment to reflect on the various bubbles, identifying where we experience privilege and where we face challenges. Extend this reflection to a colleague—where do they encounter challenges and where do they experience privilege? By understanding these dynamics, we cultivate a deeper appreciation for diversity. 2️⃣ Increasing our awareness of intersectionality not only for ourselves but also for others is paramount. Embracing and valuing this diversity enriches our collective experience. 3️⃣ Often, societal perceptions impose limitations on certain identities. Mel's example of the misconception surrounding childbearing years as incompatible with career growth is powerful. By recognizing the source of such beliefs, we empower ourselves to break free from self-imposed barriers and embrace the multifaceted aspects of our identities. Today's session was truly inspiring, and I eagerly anticipate more events like this! Let's continue to learn, grow, and support each other on our journeys. 💪✨ #intersectionality #EDI #diversity #equity #inclusion #empowerment #diversityandinclusion

Curious to know where we stand and how to make even greater progress? Last year, EWOB introduced the ‘Toolkit for change’ — a practical guide to advancing gender diversity on boards. ▶ The findings were clear: Legislative measures have opened more seats for women in European boardrooms. But the journey is far from over. ⏩ Next steps? It’s not just about having more women at the table — it’s about ensuring their voices are heard and their influence is equal across all boardrooms in Europe. As we prepare our 2025 research paper on boardroom inclusion, we’re drawing on the insights and stories of established women on boards — many from the EWOB Community — to uncover patterns shaping boardroom dynamics and accelerate meaningful change. In the meantime, whether you’re hiring, leading a business, or championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), join us in spreading awareness and encouraging proactive steps. Discover the EWOB ‘Toolkit for change’ 2024 below. 👇 📢 P.S. Want to be one of the first to get access to our 2025 findings? Diane Mariechild's quote, "A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture, and transform," encapsulates the multifaceted and profound role that women play in the world. This quote eloquently highlights the intrinsic qualities and capabilities that women possess, emphasizing their integral role in shaping society. ✅ Creation: At its core, the power to create is often associated with the literal act of giving birth. However, it extends far beyond this biological function. Women have the ability to create in various dimensions – they build communities, initiate movements, and foster innovative ideas. Whether through art, science, entrepreneurship, or leadership, women's contributions to the creative sphere are invaluable. Their creativity breathes life into new concepts, solutions, and advancements that propel humanity forward. ✅ Nurturing: Nurturing is a trait that many women embody naturally. It encompasses caring for and supporting others, fostering growth, and providing a conducive environment where individuals and communities can flourish. This nurturing spirit is evident in various roles that women take on, from being caregivers and educators to mentors and leaders. Women often act as the bedrock of families and communities, ensuring the well-being and development of those around them. Their nurturing influence helps cultivate a sense of belonging, security, and encouragement. ✅ Transformation: The power to transform speaks to the ability of women to effect change. Women are agents of transformation, often driving social, political, and cultural shifts. Their resilience and strength enable them to overcome challenges and inspire others to do the same. Through advocacy, leadership, and activism, women have been at the forefront of numerous movements that have redefined societal norms and promoted equality. Their transformative impact is seen in the strides made towards gender equality, human rights, and social justice. In essence, Mariechild's quote recognizes the holistic nature of women's capabilities. Women embody a balance of creation, nurturing, and transformation, making them pivotal to the progress and harmony of society. By acknowledging and celebrating these qualities, we can foster an environment where women are empowered to continue making significant contributions to the world. This quote serves as a powerful reminder of the inherent strength and potential within every woman. It calls for appreciation and support for the diverse roles that women play, ultimately highlighting their indispensable role in shaping a better future. #women #quote #empowerment #transformation #creation #nurturing
