𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 @ COP29 Azerbaijan When it comes to revolutionising climate action by harnessing satellite and AI technology to measure soil carbon credits, the first change-maker we met was Boomitra led by Aadith Moorthy. As The Earthshot Prize Winner and a TIME 100 Most Influential Company, Boomitra is dedicated to recarbonizing the soil, which is vital for mitigating climate change. It empowers farmers and ranchers of all sizes—from smallholder farms to expansive ranches—to enhance their soil carbon levels and agricultural yields while generating additional income through carbon credits. The platform ensures that every carbon credit sold undergoes rigorous third-party certification, adhering to the highest international standards for nature-based carbon removal. This transparency not only builds trust but also guarantees that a significant portion of the revenue from these credits goes directly to the landowners, who are essential in driving carbon sequestration efforts. By promoting regenerative agricultural practices such as rotational grazing and cover crops, Boomitra increases the rate of soil carbon storage. Healthy, carbon-rich soils not only sequester CO2 but also improve water retention, nutrient availability, and biodiversity. Given that human activities have significantly elevated atmospheric CO2 levels and degraded nearly 40% of the world’s land, Boomitra’s approach offers a sustainable solution with the potential to remove up to 10% of global annual emissions. Through its innovative technology and commitment to community engagement, Boomitra is not just addressing climate change; it is fostering a more resilient agricultural landscape that benefits both the environment and local economies. We found our part of inspiration from BooMitra, what about you? Do share your insights! Stay tuned for more #Tech @COP29 Azerbaijan #Boomitra #GSDAfrica #COP29 #Baku #Azerbaijan #ClimateChange #ProblemSolvers #Times100 #EarthshotPrize [Manvi Sharma Shivam Garg]

#COP16 #Biodiversity Less than a month untill this major event in #Cali, Colombia (21.10-01.11). 🙋♂️ We are excited to announce that Planet2050 will be attending COP16, #PeacewithNature’. Please connect and meet our Regenerative Finance specialist Esther Val. 🐯 The conference will focus on the implementation of the Biodiversity Plan (i.e. the Global Biodiversity Framework #GBF). ✊ In the words of Susana Muhamad, Colombian Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, and Chair of #COP16, “the real fight of the 21st century is for life. If we succeed in transforming our relationship with nature, as well as our production and consumption practices, then we will be addressing the most important challenges of our time”. 👇 What to expect? COP16 will focus on four overall objectives: 1️⃣ Launch of the Peace with #Nature Coalition: integrating countries to drive the regeneration of life and reverse the climate crisis. 2️⃣ Unify the climate and biodiversity agendas: to coherently address the triple planetary crisis (climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss). 3️⃣ Benefit-sharing system for genetic resources: biodiversity-rich countries are demanding to receive benefits for the genetic chains of organisms, which are used by industries around the world. 4️⃣ Agreements on financing to reach the "30 by 30" goal and 23 targets set out in the Kunming Montreal Global Framework. 🌎 This framework, signed by 196 countries and adopted in December 2022, aims to protect 30% of the world's terrestrial and marine areas by 2030 and mobilize $200 billion per year by 2030 from various sources to support biodiversity efforts, including international financial flows. 🌿 At Planet2050 we're committed to the Nature agenda and to support the COP’s objectives by financing and promoting high-quality environmental credits projects within value chains and beyond. 👨🌾 We firmly believe that Insetting approaches, carbon and nature-based crediting schemes can help unlock financial incentives required for land owners and farmer incentives to protect ecosystems and contribute to the much-needed climate actions for our Planet until 2050 and above. ☕ Together with local and international partners, we are preparing the launch of a unique insetting program at COP16, and are excited to share more with you here soon #coffee #colombia #biodiversity ..
