Introducing the visionaries behind Axmed: Meet Felix Ohnmacht, Ph.D., the fervent co-founder at the heart of Axmed's mission. But who are the individuals behind this innovative venture, and what motivated them to embark on this journey? "It’s a story of good fortune and freedom, really," Felix says. For him, the decision to start Axmed was rooted in a deep, lifelong appreciation for the ingenuity and resilience of people in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). Already in his childhood, Felix explains, he was captivated by communities rich in human-centered values and a knack for experimentation. Inspired by great leaders and mentors in LMICs, he harbored a dream of leveraging his skills to create outsized impact, to meaningfully transform healthcare for those in need through social business. "That company didn't exist, at least not how I imagined it, so we created it," Felix says. When the three co-founders decided to establish Axmed, it wasn't merely about identifying gaps in healthcare delivery; it was about recognizing and supporting the tremendous potential for innovative, sustainable solutions to emerge from within LMICs. It was about transcending short-term interests to increase the accessibility and affordability of medicines, with a strong commercial backbone. "As a technology company, we can push scalability that fundamentally levels the economic playing field and enables real competition on real opportunities," Felix explains. "That's what healthcare needs today, and it has the potential to relieve millions from health challenges so they can enjoy more freedom to thrive." Felix' vision for Axmed is ambitious yet simple: to establish a beacon of change – a new kind of company exemplifying that prioritizing the patient and the public is key to building a thriving business. "Axmed is not just a platform; it's a movement," he declares. "I believe real leadership starts when human beings are in service of others, and the same applies for companies, too. This is where I see Axmed - not just as the world's leading medicines marketplace, but as a trailblazer in ethical business practices and social leadership. In the next weeks, we will introduce Co-Founders Emmanuel Akpakwu and Sofía Radley-Searle - if you have any questions for them about Axmed, simply leave a comment! #Leadership #AccessToMedicine #LeadershipJourney

Despite the broader slow-down in VC funding, medtech saw over 20 % growth in deal value in Q1, according to the latest data from Pitchbook 📈 One good thing that could come out of this cooling period, is an increased focus on healthcare and medtech from venture capitalists. Perhaps one day we'll see more VC investments in human health than in ad delivery 📺⚕️ Wouldn't that be something? 🤞 #MedicalDevices #Medtech #InnovationInHealthcare #VentureCapital #HealthTech #Ophthalmology

Last week, I had the privilege of spending time at The MedTech Conference, and am excited to share some of the impactful moments that made it so valuable. 🎤 Insight from FDA Leadership Hearing directly from Michelle Tarver, MD, PhD, the new acting center Director of CDRH, about her strategic priorities for FDA was not only enlightening but will shape the medtech landscape for years to come. 💼 Investor Meetings with Real Depth Unlike some investment events where conversations can feel rushed, I had the opportunity to engage in meaningful 1:1 discussions with investors. At this conference, they truly took the time to dive into Vibrato’s story, offering valuable feedback, openly sharing their fund goals, and collaborating on next steps—sometimes for over an hour! 🤝 Connecting with Peers and Industry Leaders It was energizing to reconnect with fellow CEOs from across the country. Sharing insights on how they are tackling common medtech challenges sparked fresh ideas. And rubbing shoulders with CEOs of multi-billion-dollar companies provided a unique perspective on what they prioritize when planning for growth. 🍽️ Dinner with a Former Senator A special dinner with a former senator offered a rare chance for candid discussion on how we can practically advance medtech, regardless of election outcomes. Conversations like these help us streamline processes and ensure innovation keeps moving forward. 🏆 A Tribute to Caroll H. Neubauer One of the most moving moments was watching Carol Neubauer receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. His journey in medtech, both professionally and personally, was inspiring and a testament to the commitment to patients that our industry stands for. A huge thanks to AdvaMed for organizing such an incredible event. The enthusiasm, commitment to patients, and passion for innovation in our industry were palpable. Looking forward to applying these insights and driving forward with Vibrato Medical, Inc.’s mission! P.S. Was too busy to take photos 📸, but gave a couple of interviews—so stay tuned for some videos from the conference! 🎥

🎉 We’re thrilled to share some news! We have just closed a funding round and welcome three new co-founders to the leadership team 🎉 After 1,5 years of launching our new product, patient relationship and clinical data management platform, we have gained 28% market share in Estonia and earned high praise, an average 4,8/5 from our clients. This new financing round allows us to keep building the best product for doctors, nurses and patients and to expand to new markets. FIRSTPICK, Change Ventures, HEARTFELT_VC as well as previous investors invest 700 000 EUR in this financing round, positioning us for accelerated growth and expansion. In line with this new chapter, three long-term team members, Helena Volmer (in charge of operations and sales), Dr. Andres Lasn (medical director) and Keir Volas (technology and product lead) join Liis as co-founders. “We are excited to expand our Estonian portfolio with the addition of Certific. The outstanding team behind Certific, led by Liis, Helena, Andres, and Keir, brings deep expertise and a truly innovative approach to digital health solutions. They are tackling a critical challenge in the healthcare industry—reducing the documentation burden on clinicians—based on their first-hand experiences. We are proud to co-lead this round and support them in building another category-defining company from the Baltics,” commented Andra Bagdonaite, partner at Lithuanian VC firm FIRSTPICK. “The idea for the product came from real life as I saw the existing solutions didn’t solve the inefficiencies in patient-doctors communication and just caused more administrative burden. I’m excited to join Certific as a co-founder and to help take this rocket ship to the next level and make the lives of patients and healthcare workers around the world a little bit easier,” explains Dr Andres Lasn, Medical Director and former family physician who is joining Certific as a co-founder. The original co-founders Taavet Hinrikus and Jack Kreindler, have ended their tenure as operationally active co-founders but remain as advising investors in Certific. Taavet Hinrikus says that healthtech as an industry is quite conservative and tough and Certific has seen its fair share of challenges along the way, including a radical pivot. “The current team has proven to be relentless in their goal of building radically better solutions for the healthcare industry and I’m excited to see the impact they are yet to make,” Taavet Hinrikus, initial co-founder and investor. We couldn’t be more excited about the next phase in Certific’s journey where we can keep building, growing and expanding to additional markets!
