Top sustainable tourism concerns include protecting natural resources, controlling tourist numbers, monitoring satisfaction, and implementing early warning measures. A case study in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula illustrates the tension between wildlife exploitation and responsible ecotourism. A tour group visited a farm with chained jaguars, sparking discomfort over their treatment as tourist attractions. This highlights the need for enforced rules and regulations to promote appropriate behavior, ensuring the well-being of wildlife and the long-term productivity of natural resources. Effective management and enforcement of sustainable tourism practices are crucial to preserving natural resources, respecting wildlife, and promoting responsible ecotourism. By prioritizing protection, control, and monitoring, we can mitigate the negative impacts of tourism and ensure a thriving ecosystem for future generations. #wwfpakistan #responsibletourism

East Greenland is like no other place on Earth. Its enormous glaciers, deep fjords and rugged terrain has kept it relatively isolated from the rest of the country—and from the world. Its remoteness also means it’s sparsely populated, with only about 16 per cent of Greenland’s population living there. over time, tourism is being viewed as a way to bolster the economy and provide residents with much-needed jobs. The big question: How to expand East Greenland’s tourism industry without harming the pristine environment that makes the region special? #greenland #ecotourism #naturalheritage #cconservation #destinationmanagement Jula Maegaard-Hoffmann Pasi Rautio Eeva Karjalainen Jonathan Karkut, PhD Sarah Cox Mogens A. We are regularly told that wildlife tourism is meant for people with disposable incomes and that only rich entrepreneurs who set up resorts benefit at the cost of forest edge villagers. But Protected Areas can be wealth creators like the Taj Mahal and any other man-made structures.

ECOTOURISM the true friend that we all need to understand and discover. #TIMELESS #ENCOUNTERS# What if there was a way without changing and preserving a destination, enjoying the space over and over again, maintaining the nature and its locals in harmony. There was a teacher that spoke about Ecotourism, which is a concept of tourism where the space of destination is preserved (eg. nature and environment are protected), where people can go and encounter the same beauty leaving as a legacy to other generations. Small changes will take place, maybe a tree will be replace but the roots of its family tree will remain. Identifying destination's assets -> potential attractions to tourists; -> why tourists visit a destination; -> areas requesting particular attention; -> planning its development and protecting initiatives of those key areas and surroundings. Fishing tourism has become even more popular since COVID-19, where visitors want to reconnect with the great outdoors but are also more environmentally conscious. Catch and Release fishing, which involves returning the fish unharmed to the water, is considered a relatively low impact and sustainable environmental practice. A quick photo and careful handling, including supporting the fish in the water until it swims away on its own, protects fish populations and maintains ecosystem balance. While Catch and Release fishing has a long history in the UK and Europe, especially with a view to conservation of fish stocks, the practice is now gaining momentum within ecotourism and many destinations are including it in the development of Fishing Tourism Strategies, for example https://lnkd.in/gkMhJiC7 Jeff with a Queenfish, catch and release, last week in Hervey Bay, Queensland. Advantages of Ecotourism over Traditional Tourism: 1. Preservation of Nature and Biodiversity Ecotourism is aimed at minimizing the impact on the environment. This includes more responsible use of natural resources, reducing pollution, and supporting nature reserves and parks. In Spain, with its unique natural areas such as the Pyrenees, Canary Islands, and Sierra Nevada, this is particularly important. 2. Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Traditions Ecotourism not only preserves natural resources but also supports local cultures and traditions. Ecologically-minded tourists seek to immerse themselves in local culture, supporting local producers and artisans. This allows small communities to maintain their way of life and traditions, which are often diluted in mass tourism, making it monotonous and dull. 3. Sustainable Development of Local Communities Ecotourism brings income directly to local communities, helping to create jobs and improve the quality of life in rural and remote areas. In Spain, where many regions suffer from depopulation and economic difficulties, ecotourism can be used to support and revive these territories. 4. Raising Environmental Awareness Ecotourism promotes environmental awareness among both tourists and the local population. It teaches people to value nature and recognize their responsibility for preserving it for future generations. to be continued....
