Great overview of the growing #microdrama trend from C21Media’s Jordan Pinto (p 5-9). #Quibi was forward-thinking—and arguably ahead of the curve—but it was fated to fail due to the cost of its content; it was too 'premium'. Soap-operas, #telenovellas and other melodramatic stories work best when ‘rough’ around the edges; they should feel like a true guilty pleasure (cheesy yet relentlessly engaging). Companies like #ReelShort have mastered this style in vertical form.
