As America's infrastructure ages, countless local governments across the country find themselves at an important crossroads. Faced with the often expensive and critical task of upgrading their local infrastructure, they must decide how to proceed: the most economical option? incremental patchwork? or large-scale overhaul programs that will be a long-term investment in the future. Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, recently faced this challenge, and it decided to look to the future by undertaking a massive overhaul of its aging water system. The city chose SAM as a partner to make these vital improvements, and the program ended up requiring extensive knowledge of multiple geospatial and engineering disciplines. Luckily, SAM's Managed Geospatial Solutions™ framework was uniquely suited to the challenge. We detail how our team helped the city make this program a success in our latest case story: https://lnkd.in/dkeVKCEN

How many Ground Investigation techniques can you see in this image? Hint, the CPT truck is a lot more visible than it was yesterday during the snow! This week IDOM Merebrook are carrying out works in High Wycombe to locate the depth to the chalk and any associated dissolution features. There are a couple of suspicious depressions in the ground surface that will be investigated to quantify the risk to the proposed development. For any ground investigation enquiries please get in touch! #GroundInvestigation #GeotechnicalEngineer #SiteInvestigation

On Monday, the Lancaster County Transportation Technical Advisory Committee (TTAC) will meet to consider amendments to 11 transit projects and 4 highway & bridge projects on the Lancaster MPO’s 2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP is a list of federal and state-funded transportation projects in Lancaster County over the next four years. These are the first amendments propose for the 2025 TIP, which began on October 1, 2024 at the beginning of the 2025 Federal Fiscal Year (FFY). Most of the amendments propose moving funding from the 2024 FFY to the 2025 FFY. A new Class 1 heavy vehicle access regime is being developed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). The new access regime will improve safe and sustainable access to TMR roads and structures for all road users by managing risk associated with Class 1 heavy vehicles. HoustonKemp (Martin Chow and Liam Hickey) is pleased to have undertaken a cost benefit analysis of implementing the proposed access regime across state controlled and local government roads in Queensland. Our analysis considered the costs and benefits of the new regime compared with the existing permit-based system supported by engineering assessments. Overall, we found that the proposed new access regime is expected to deliver significant net benefits to the department and industry, with a benefit cost ratio of 8.6 for a low scenario and 36.8 for a high scenario. The executive summary from our report is available at the following link https://lnkd.in/gygsNsyc

Here's a great video briefly explaining the robust traffic datasets currently being collected with MetroCount technology for the #GympieRoadBypassTunnell project in #Queensland. Thanks to Bart Mellish, Minister for Transport and Main Roads, and Marty Prowse from Matrix Traffic and Transport Data, who explained how this data will ensure the best #RoadSafety and efficiency outcomes for this large #Infrastructure project. It's great to see appreciation of reliable, accurate and complete datasets at the very beginning of a project, as this will lay the foundation for everything to come! Department of Transport and Main Roads Road Safety Authority Queensland Civil Infrastructure Projects
We were privileged to get the opportunity to chat with the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Bart Mellish about traffic surveys and the equipment we use. The current project, Gympie Rd Bypass Tunnel is a big one, with over 600 loggers and cameras being installed. Arup and Veitch Lister Consulting are partnering to produce the modelling for this project. This only gets done with teamwork. Both Matrix NSW and Victorian teams arriving this week to chime in with Qld teams coordinated by Noah Prowse and Jeremy Parsons . Thanks Bart Mellish for the chat and showing interest in our range of data collecting equipment. We are normally the unseen industry at the start of these marquee infrastructure project. #trafficsurveys #trafficengeering Matrix Traffic and Transport Data
