Have I already wished you a happy new year? Professionally my year starts for good when we launch the annual sustainability report. Healthy Future report ( my third report at Teva) shows our new strategy, which for me the key change is a structure that shows clear interconnectivity between topics and subtopics. In terms of the report, we increased a lot internal controls aiming to be aligned with the Sox standards. There are much more to come: new system, CSRD ( including double materiality ) alignment and CSDDD that make me sure of two things: 1 - the game will continue to change and we will continue to improve 2 - I'll never get bored of my job ☺️. Are you interested to know more about the next challenges of the sustainability agenda? Which topic are you interested in? I can try to share more here… I cannot forget to say a big thank you to the best teammates: Amalia Adler-Waxman Adam Ajzensztejn Sheana Shechterman Yonina Fleischman Orit Braverman Carol Richardson Erick Tyssier Marijana Grubešić and all the others more than 150 colleagues that collaborate with this huge project.
SVP, Global Head, Sustainability and ESG and head of Corporate Affairs of International Markets, Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries
During my time in this role, it has been heartening to see how sustainability has truly become embedded in the way we do business. This is clear from our 2023 Healthy Future Report, which we published today. Our renewed sustainability strategy, Healthy Future, is inherently tied to Teva’s purpose: we are all in for better health. We know that by acting sustainably, we can improve the health of people, the planet and our business. I’m proud of this report because it shows how at Teva, we walk the talk. We set targets, stand by them — often overachieve them — and set new ones to push ourselves even further. We are actively creating the future we want to see. A special thank you to the team that oversaw this year’s report: Adam Ajzensztejn Carla Schuchmann Sheana Shechterman Yonina Fleischman Carol Richardson Richardson Erick Tyssier Pascal Michoux Irit Hovich https://lnkd.in/diix8ga5 #Tevapharm #Sustainability #HealthyFuture #ESG@

🌍 Sustainability as a priority in the Pharmaceutical Industry Nowadays, sustainable development is not just a trend; it’s an urgent necessity that governments, companies, and society cannot ignore. In the pursuit of a healthier future for everyone, reducing our environmental footprint is essential. This Thursday, I had the opportunity to attend the presentation of FARMAINDUSTRIA's (the Spanish Association of Pharmaceutical Companies) report on the social and environmental impact of the pharmaceutical sector. I left with a clear conviction: the pharmaceutical industry is leading significant advancements towards sustainability. From research and adapting supply chains to developing medicines, companies are decisively integrating sustainability principles at every stage of their work. 💡 Many companies are not just complying with stricter regulations and policies, they are going beyond, investing in R&D to develop treatments that not only improve patients' quality of life but also respect the environment. 🏆 That same Thursday, I celebrated two years at Cariotipo, and after working with labs and companies from different countries and various pipelines, I can confidently say that the efforts of many of these companies are tangible. The pharmaceutical industry is rapidly adapting to sustainability demands and continues to innovate to offer greener solutions. This proves that health and well-being depend not only on treating people but also on caring for our environment. It’s exciting to witness this change and, even more, to be part of a conversation that drives the balance between innovation, health, and sustainability. #Sustainability #OneHealth #PharmaceuticalIndustry #HealthAndEnvironment #GreenInnovation #PositiveImpact

Teva Pharmaceuticals was recently voted one of the “Worlds Most Sustainable Companies” by TIME Magazine. In a recent podcast by PharmaSource, Amalia Adler-Waxman shares her perspective on the relationship between regulatory bodies and pharmaceutical companies. Amongst many insightful thoughts, this one stuck. “Both pharmaceuticals and governments want to improve public health, but the way to get there is quite different… and the pace is different.” Teva implements ESG (environmental, societal and governance) improvements to EMPOWER their staff to increase throughput alongside their mission of quality, ethics and transparency. In doing so, Teva’s pace is efficient and compliant while prioritizing patient safety👏 Blue Mountain #CDMO #Pharma #Pharmaceuticals #CMO #Biotech #BiologicsManufacturing #GMP #FDA #EnterpriseAssetManagement #CMMS #Pharmamanufacturing Link to full episode from PharmaSource Podcast: How Teva Pharmaceuticals Became a Global Leader in Sustainability, Aug 23, 2024

Clear Steps Toward a Greener Future - Pharmaceutical Sector’s Environmental Sustainability Actions EFPIA and its members recognise the urgent need to address climate change and safeguard natural resources, given the profound impact on both human health and nature. We further acknowledge concerns of pharmaceuticals in the environment. It’s essential to move away from traditional methods and adopt innovative practices that reduce our environmental impact. As leaders in the pharmaceutical sector, our companies are committed to taking decisive actions to reduce our environmental impacts across the value chain and contribute to building resilient and sustainable health system. They are leading the transition towards the decarbonisation in the pharmaceutical sector by setting ambitious science-based targets, investing in renewable energy, driving circularity, and collaborating with stakeholders. To hear more on the concrete actions underway and what we need to consider for the future - listen to my presentation at the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM), Council of Europe Diamond anniversary event on 11 June #EDQM60. - https://lnkd.in/ehbUcJKR https://lnkd.in/eBsZRsK6

As I reflect on the rich history of DCAT in New York City, it feels particularly fitting to pass through this iconic city on my way to Lugano for DCAT's first-ever Sustainability Summit. This summit offers a unique opportunity to align our efforts with the evolving landscape of sustainability in the biopharmaceutical industry. Tim Lowery, President of JSR Life Sciences, recently noted: "If one word in today’s business lexicon is heard from the boardroom to the manufacturing floor, it is this: sustainability." As part of JSR Life Sciences, this resonates deeply with us at KBI Biopharma, especially in light of the recent open letter from the CEOs of seven global pharmaceutical giants setting joint climate and sustainability targets for suppliers. With the healthcare sector contributing approximately 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, half of which comes from supply chains, our role as CDMOs is more crucial than ever. At KBI Biopharma, we embed sustainability in our core practices. Our parent company, JSR Corporation, aims to “create value through materials to enrich society, people, and the environment.” This drives our initiatives to reduce water and energy consumption, manage waste responsibly, and extend our commitment to sustainability to our employees and community. Sustainability enhances how we support our employees and community. Defined as efficient resource use, it’s central to our business’s longevity—spanning society, people, and growth. This approach, rooted in responsibility and community drive, accelerates our sustainability efforts. A comprehensive stakeholder approach leads to efficiencies like minimizing toxic materials, benefiting both the environment and our cost structure. Additionally, a strategic plan for employee retention is integral, reducing turnover costs and preserving knowledge. As CDMOs, we have a unique opportunity to create impactful, sustainable operations that protect resources, build stability, and fulfill our mission of sustaining and improving human health. We are proud to sponsor the DCAT Global Bio/Pharmaceutical Sustainability Imperative Summit in Lugano, Switzerland. This event will unite executives and professionals to address sustainability in the bio/pharmaceutical customer–supplier relationship, covering topics like climate-disclosure requirements, the European Green Deal, and sustainable sourcing solutions. Join us in exploring these critical issues and building a more sustainable future for the biopharmaceutical industry. #Sustainability #Biopharma #DCAT #KBI #Healthcare #ClimateAction #EmployeeEngagement #CommunityImpact #NextGenCDMO DCAT (Drug, Chemical & Associated Technologies Association)
