This year, I added a Breast Oncologist to my care team. Last September, my annual mammogram produced results that caused a secondary screening, a biopsy, and a consultation with a breast oncologist whom is also a surgeon. A single papilloma has a low occurrence of turning into breast cancer without other developments coming into play, but I didn't want to take that chance so I had it removed last month. I'm here to remind you of the importance of self-care and proactive health management. Ladies and gentlemen too, while self-breast exams are crucial, they might not always detect every anomaly. Conditions like intraductal papilloma—a small, tumor in the breast ducts—may go unnoticed in a routine exam. Ladies, regular mammograms are essential. These screenings can catch what our hands might miss, offering peace of mind and early detection. Prioritize your health, schedule your annual mammogram, and encourage the women in your life to do the same. Men, if you find something in yourself or your partner, say something. Early detection saves lives! #BreastCancerAwareness #WomensHealth #MensHealth #EarlyDetection

Today is a significant day for women’s breast health! 🎉 Starting today, September 10, 2024, mammography facilities are required to inform patients whether their breasts are classified as "dense" or "not dense." If you receive a report indicating dense breasts, it's essential to follow up with your healthcare provider to discuss further imaging options like ultrasound or MRI. This new regulation empowers women to take control of their breast health and ensure they get the screenings they need! 💪💗 I interviewed Dr. Robin Seitzman from DenseBreast-Info.org, who explained that having dense breasts increases both the risk of developing breast cancer and the possibility of cancer being hidden on a mammogram. Take charge of your health by understanding your mammogram results and seeking additional screenings if necessary. You can read my interview with Dr. Robin Seitzman below! https://bit.ly/3z3zu3v #breastcancerprevention #womenshealth #menopausesupport #womenshealtheducation

Men's and Women's healthcare seeking behaviour; I like to compare it to day and night. But today I'll remind us that breast cancer affects men too! Boys and girls, this is a call for all of us to self examine ourselves. Palpate, compare their sizes ( of note is that one is anatomically sightly larger than the other), is the nipple retracted? Are there any skin changes? You could just save yourself from late diagnosis from this practice that should be part of your routine. Dense breast tissue may increase the risk of breast cancer and make it harder for radiologists to detect cancer in mammograms. Dr. Tracy Lawrence, Senior Medical Director at L.A. Care Health Plan, told U.S. News & World Report that women cannot determine their breast density through self-examination alone. Breast density can be assessed by a radiologist after a routine mammogram. Dr. Lawrence also emphasizes the importance of verifying whether an assessment of breast density is recommended, as not all insurers cover the tests. 🩺👩 Learn more below: http://spr.ly/6041UPFbT #LACare #BreastCancer #Mammogram

💖 Your Girlfriend’s Guide to Breasts - From Felicia Reed 💖 Hey Girlfriend, it’s Felicia Reed here! Did you know I spent 15 years working in breast ultrasound? I’m not a physician, but I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to take care of our health. So let me share a few simple tips to help you take care of YOU: 1. Check your breasts—every single month. Pick the same time every month and get familiar with your body. When you know your breasts, you’ll know if something changes, and that’s powerful! 2. Get your mammogram. If you’re 40 or older, or have a family history of breast cancer, I recommend talking to your doctor about getting a mammogram, no matter what. I started having mammograms at 30 because my mom passed away at 40, and at 45, they caught my cancer early. Early detection matters. 3. Don’t skip your annual exam. Make sure your doctor checks your breasts every year. It’s another step in staying on top of your health. You are a powerhouse, girlfriend. Taking care of your body is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Follow these steps and stay strong! This is not medical advise this is girlfriends advice! #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #TakeCareOfYou #EarlyDetectionMatters #FeliciaReed #BreastHealth #breastcancerawareness #feliciareedphotography

Imagine being a mother and cancer survivor in your early 40's yet facing your 18th surgery to continue to repair issues from the diagnosis and treatment. HCB2 has been meeting with survivors to hear their stories and a clearer picture has evolved as to the challenges so many people face after a achieving "remission". One message the group wanted to elevate is to stop delaying any early detection procedures. Each survivor had a delay in their colorectal cancer screening. Timely screening was not experienced although symptoms were present. The symptoms were either disregarded by themselves and/or the medical community. Timely screening not only saves lives, it saves money, further toll on the body, and reduces physical, emotional, and mental hardship. With the help of Thom Kirby, MBA and @SteveGuthrow, HCB2 has created a resource directory of local and national organizations who may be under the radar, yet offer services that can support cancer patients and survivors. Walking along a cancer journey can be lonely. Check out the resource list using the link below. If you want to share your story with HCB2, please reach out. info@HCB 2.org https://lnkd.in/gtKVX32N #cancersupport #remission #HCB2
