Hy connections, I am thrilled to anounce that I recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in the hackathon, Hack O Verse, and despite not clinching the top prize, I emerged as a winner in my own right. The event provided an invaluable platform for learning and growth. Hack O Verse was an exhilarating journey of innovation, collaboration, and relentless problem-solving. Engaging with like-minded individuals in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment pushed me to think outside the box and develop creative solutions to complex technical challenges. Hacklytics 2024 is finally here! Nearly a year of planning has gone into making Hacklytics 2024 the biggest and best data science hackathon Data Science @ GT has ever put together. In 2022, we had 50 people show up and barely $5,000 to fund the entire event. This year we have over 1100 attendees, $90,000 in just prizes and 25+ sponsors. 🎉 🎉 I won't lie - it's been grueling. But I wouldn't have it any other way. As Director of External Affairs, I've had the chance to quadruple my professional network, learn some amazing things about the Tech world and spoken with hundreds of people, many of whom I'm glad to call my friends now. I really have the rest of our Hacklytics team to thank - Krishi Manek, Emma Lawton, Archishma Goli, Vicente Miranda, Aryan Verma, Smera Bhatia, Pennon Shue. And a very special shoutout to our faculty advisor Jacob Abernethy who has helped us with funding, logistics, administration and everything in between - he's taken calls with us while waiting in airport lines, at 11pm in the night and has genuinely been invaluable throughout. Over the last four months, we have been navigating confusion and many ambiguities regarding what we should do next. We found ourselves with access to a ton of talent and had to figure out where to put it and how to leverage it to create an environment of value and impact. Promoting technical innovation and skill development is still at the core of what we do. Still, we needed to figure out a business strategy and introduce changes to what we focus on, how we operate and deliver--to better serve the talent, companies, organizations, communities, and our team--in a sustainable way that brings forth the most value and impact out of our work. And that required time! As someone said, "If you build a business right, you don't have to build it again. Taking time is often the fastest way to get what you want." We believe this to be true in this initial stage where we are figuring out things--more so true when it comes to stretching our creative minds and challenging boundaries and status quo to best serve the people and create lasting value and impact. Today, we are announcing changes and new offerings and are gearing up for launch; we are inviting all existing friends of CodeXtreme, hackers, and tech enthusiasts to take part in this survey and product announcement to learn about the new direction we are taking as a company and provide their valuable feedback and perspectives that will influence our decisions for the better.
