As a designer, I've always been fascinated by how motion transforms a static visual into something dynamic and full of life. Recently, I decided to dive into After Effects 🎞️—just for fun—and it quickly became an obsession! At first, the interface and endless possibilities were overwhelming 🤯, but gradually, I got used to the basics of motion and animation design. In the beginning, I was tempted to make something ultra-fancy ✨, but I realized that powerful storytelling doesn’t need all the bells and whistles. Sometimes, simplicity speaks louder. To get started, I focused on the essentials: scale, position, and rotation. My goal? To create a simple and cute fire animation 🔥 that feels organic, not overloaded with effects. Using basic polygon shapes and a subtle wiggle, I achieved a motion that mimics fire. By adding a few fading polygons as "particles," the animation came together effortlessly! 🚀 From Sketch to Animation: Superman in Motion 🦸♂️ Bringing Superman to life was an exciting blend of creative artistry 🎨 and technical motion graphic design 🎥. This video takes you through the entire process – from the initial rough sketch ✏️ to grayscale detailing 🖤, and finally, the fully polished final artwork 🖼️. But the journey didn’t end there! I transitioned into layer assembly 🧩 in Photoshop, preparing the elements for animation. Using Adobe After Effects 🎞️, I linked the layers, creating a dynamic motion graphic of Superman flying through Metropolis 🌆. Finally, everything was brought together and refined in Adobe Premiere Pro 🎬, producing a high-quality video of Superman soaring through the skies ✨. This project highlights my skills in: 🎨 Krita – for sketching and conceptualization, 🖌️ Photoshop – for splitting and organizing layers, ⚙️ Adobe After Effects – for seamless animation and motion design, 🎥 Adobe Premiere Pro – for video editing and final production. How do you stand out as a motion designer? These are some key things I keep in mind when I create something. 1) Know what your art preference is. I gravitate towards 2D animation a lot so you'll see lots of that in my work 😎 2) Experiment and explore. Experimenting helps you reach a wider audience but that doesn't mean diluting your art preference. Learn to implement your art style in your exploration. Mixed media type stuff is a good way to experiment. 3) Learn new things, make sure you don't lag behind in tech. I did this animation on Fable and it took me half a day! 4) Put your work out there! Hello people! Here goes my first Animated Collage in After Effects. I collected images from three different scenarios and combined them into collages using Photoshop. Cutting and assembling the compositions in Photoshop was a challenge and required a of time to ensure everything was just right for animating in After Effects. The real magic happened in Ae, where I brought these images to life with smooth movements and a captivating narrative. Using the 3D camera in Ae to create dynamic movements was challenging. However, I’m very satisfied with the result and always believe there is room to learn and grow. The challenge was to ensure that each element complemented the other, creating a seamless and engaging visual experience.
