It can be as simple as: 👍 Liking someones shoes. 👍🏻 Asking how they are feeling. 👍🏼 Acknowledging their work ethic. 👍🏾 Asking how their family is by name. ... and most importantly saying Thank-You. What another fantastic session with the team at Portwest in Killarney this week. I worked with the team on: 💰 Selling styles on the Shopfloor and how to connect, engage and build brand loyalty with shoppers. 🧍♀️🧍🧍♂️Identifing customer profiles on the Shopfloor and having a selling preference for that customer persona. 🛍️🛒 Lots of role plays on how to upsell and link sell with shoppers through meaningful conversations that engage and connect with customers. The heart ❤️ of Retail is felt by shoppers from NOT the products BUT each team members personality on the shopfloor. Happy Monday Friends! I haven’t posted in a while because honestly, I have been quietly plotting my next move. Like too many of us out there, I was impacted by a layoff in my last role. After countless coffees, meetings, interviews, consulting projects and networking with lovely people who totally dug what I brought to the table yet role/timing/values/etc. didn’t align, I got real with myself. I decided the next chapter MUST do 3 things (otherwise: keep on walkin’): Work stuff: leverage my strategic and creative expertise, expand my network and offer exposure to broader sectors of industry. People stuff: enable connections with dynamic, sharp, kind and genuine people from varied backgrounds whom I can learn from and have FUN with. Life stuff: offer a culture that embodies the values and boundaries I have around family and personal well being. (Probably the toughest ask of the three.) Enter Pinnacle Performance Group, where I recently joined as Director, Consulting + Client Services (check us out below!). Will it be uncomfortable to learn new significant areas of practice beyond retail / product design and development? Yes! (Still consulting there, too). Do I stand to massively stretch and grow? Hell yes! Does Pinnacle pass all my criteria and gut check? ✅ Here’s to everyone navigating change. The landscape looks very different than it did just a few short years ago and can leave you feeling vulnerable - despite how supported, successful or secure you may have felt in the past. I’ve learned that by staying true to YOU, leaning into your network and - most importantly- being open to walking through new doors, you may find really cool things on the other side. I've been back from maternity leave for 2 months and here is the one thing that stands out as I walk my mall. Very few retailers are having FUN with their customers. Sometimes we lose sight of what our roles are as retail leadership, there are SO many distractions, but the reality is that our most IMPORTANT role is creating customer loyalty and teaching our teams how to do the same. When people receive great or terrible customer service, they tell EVERYONE they know. So how do we change our mindset, our team's mindset around our ever-growing to-do list? How do we get consistent exceptional service at the top of the that list?

When leading one of the teams in my career at a particular company, a Friday mid afternoon was always the time to reflect, give recognition, celebrate success and finish the week on a fun note! 🤩 I did feel this was vital to the up-keep of the team harmony, team spirit and motivation, and allowing individuals to really see and reflect on what they had achieved that week, and how it was seen by and had impacted positively their colleagues 🌟 Each team member would vote on their colleague of the week - we called it something very different to this, but I wont say what that was on here 🙌 In front of everyone they would take it in turn to vote for which of their colleagues should be the week's winner, giving their reasons why 🗣️ The criteria was not just based on who sold the most, brought in the best deal, etc., but on who really impressed, helped, motivated them that week 💯 This could be picking up someone when they were feeling down, going beyond their usual job duties to help others, implementing a new creative idea, saving an at risk client, representing the company well at an event, writing a nice piece of content to help showcase the brand and company further etc.. It really was mainly encouraging everyone to work as a team and to all be team players - to be recognised for that 💪 The overall winner won a small prize and got to keep hold of the company mascot on their desk for the following week 🏆 All votes are accumulated over the month so we could celebrate a monthly winner too 🥇 This was of course all done over some beverages and snacks 🍷 🍻 ☕ Finish your week on high and use it as an opportunity to get your team together to celebrate success, give recognition, and finish the week with smiles all round 😃 “Every Friday, I like to high five myself for getting through another week on little more than caffeine, willpower, and inappropriate humour.” — Nanea Hoffman #Leadership #Motivation #Recognition #Sales #CS #Customersuccess #Aboveandbeyond #Celebration #SalesManagers #Management #HR #Fridayfun #TeamCollaboration #TeamWork #Success
