Partnerships in financing, technology, data and innovation are essential to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges 🌱. Countries around the world play a crucial role in advancing SDG 17 by fostering global cooperation. Key initiatives like the Paris Agreement 🌎 and the current #COP29 aim to combat climate change by reducing emissions and supporting developing countries with financial aid and technology transfer. Ultimately, SDG 17 emphasises that partnerships across borders and sectors are the foundation for achieving global goals. By strengthening collaboration, sharing resources, and working towards mutual goals, we can create a more sustainable, equitable world for all 🌍🤝. 🌍 The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established in 2015, set out to create a more inclusive and sustainable world by 2030, ensuring no one is left behind in the journey towards progress. As we near the final stretch, it's clear that a significant gap exists between wealthy and less affluent nations in achieving these goals. While developed countries have made remarkable advancements across various SDGs—from reducing poverty to improving healthcare, fostering industrial growth, ensuring access to energy, and enhancing education—there's a noticeable shortfall in their commitment to two critical goals: Goal 12 (responsible consumption) and Goal 13 (climate action). This discrepancy underscores a reluctance among affluent nations to prioritize climate action despite having the necessary resources at their disposal. While they excel in many areas of sustainable development, their failure to adequately address climate change reveals a profound lack of commitment. This is especially troubling considering the disproportionate impact of climate change on vulnerable communities worldwide. The glaring gap in climate action progress emphasizes the urgent need for richer nations to intensify their efforts and fulfill their obligations in combating climate change. Their inaction not only undermines global efforts to protect the planet but also perpetuates global inequalities, ultimately impeding the overarching goal of sustainable development: ensuring no one is left behind. 🌱 #SDGs #ClimateAction #InclusiveDevelopment

As the world gears up for #COP29, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals come into focus as a roadmap to achieve a just, sustainable and equitable world by 2030. The #SDGs are at the heart of our #investment strategy. Supporting the success of the Goals is how Ghazan Global contributes to financial inclusion, #climate action, multilateralism and innovation.

The outcomes from #COP have continued to outline commitments made by nations into actionable strategies that not only address climate change but also fuel economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability. Mark Carney, United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance and Co-Chair of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), shared his insights from #COP28 relating to the intersection of Indigenous leadership as catalyst for a new economic order that is inclusive, resilient, and attuned to the needs of the planet and its inhabitants. He highlighted the critical contributions and leadership of Indigenous peoples in global climate and business negotiations, underscoring the importance of inclusive approaches to not only address climate change, but also witnessing #ESG-conscious companies trading at rising premiums across sectors. #FNMPC2024

Our founding partner Harald Walkate contributed to the policy report "Taking the Lead on Climate Action and Sustainable Development", that is effectively about the need for governments to drive the energy transition and that provides recommendations on what a whole-of-economy and whole-of-government transition planning approach should look like.
