🚀 Exciting news from GE HealthCare! Congratulations to the team on receiving FDA approval for Flurpiridaz F-18 (Flyrcado), a groundbreaking PET imaging agent designed for adult patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). 🎉 CAD is the leading cause of death in the U.S., often resulting from narrowed or blocked coronary arteries that can lead to serious conditions like myocardial ischemia and heart attacks. Flurpiridaz F-18 is a nuclear medicine tracer used in myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) tests, which assess blood flow to the heart muscle under both rest and stress conditions. With its longer half-life of 109 minutes, Flurpiridaz F-18 offers improved diagnostic accuracy compared to the current standard of SPECT MPI, allowing for broader distribution and enhanced image quality. Medical procedures regulating the execution of treatments are developed to ensure high precision in diagnostics and quality of care. They minimize the risk of side effects and maximize the benefits of modern medical techniques. This is particularly evident in cancer radiotherapy, where every moment and every millimeter matter for the health of patients. The Ministerstwo Zdrowia (Polish Ministry of Health) has published information about the expert teams responsible for developing these model medical radiological procedures for standard medical exposures. Our distinguished specialists, Dr. hab. Eng. Renata Kopeć, Professor at IFJ PAN, and MSc. Eng. The Electronic Portal Imaging Device (EPID) from Varian and the Eclipse Treatment Planning System (TPS) were used for portal dosimetry, while the ArcCheck cylindrical phantom from Sun Nuclear was used for phantom studies.... #Introduction Radiation therapy has transformed the field of cancer treatment, with treatments such as IMRT and RapidArc or VMAT allowing for the delivery of very precise doses to the tumor while sparing the surrounding normal tissues.... #Methods and #Materials A total of 12 VMAT and IMRT verification plans were developed for patients who underwent radiotherapy treatment. Each verification plan had single-isocenter setups.... #Results Calculated and measured planar relative dose distributions, and absolute central axis (CAX) point doses were compared for each using profile and isodose matching methods within respective software platforms.... #Discussion Delivery accuracy, planning reliability, and machine performance were evaluated by a retrospective analysis of technical and QA data from 12 patients treated with RapidArc and IMRT. The verification of the treatment plans was performed using both ArcCHECK and portal dosimetry.... #Conclusions A retrospective study concerning patient-specific QA in RapidArc treatments underlined the possibilities of uncertainties and errors in dose delivery.
